Knowing Nike, they will slap some Pleather, fake suede, strip away the sockliner so that the shoe feels like a cast and charge $130 on top of it.Originally Posted by WallyHopp
green rhino, all of those would be perfect. Getting back to that would be the ultimate goal. Each one of those is just baby steps away from their OG counterpart.
The 2000s have their own sets of problems (weird diagonal toebox suede creases, midsole paint chipping) but those issues are so minor, that I would accept those faults in 2012.
Then again.....
Nike fixed the weird toebox suede creases and midsole paint chipping with the 2004 air trainer 1 low, by either having the white midsole foam be white to begin with or a better paint application. In either case, that never stuck to other air trainer 1s. So it's really par for the course with Nike. They fix one thing but just don't care enough about their product to go about making it a full time change. They are okay putting out whatever.
And it's not that far fetched to return to material quality like that. I have seen Nike use similar suedes and leathers on other recent products. It's out there but in smaller quantities now. So we're definitely not talking about these being some ultra supreme PREMIUM quality. The retros of the past aren't too high up on a pedistol that Nike can't reach or come close. They choose not to. Maybe I just need to expand my horizons. Stefan Janoski GRs have some great materials. Even your blazers or bruins out there that retail at $70- $90.
