WHO declares Monkeypox outbreak a global emergency

I don't think people should shy away from discussing what is driving infections right now

But given this country's history and the rampant amount of homophobia in America, I feel people should also be cautious of the language they use and their framing

Someone complaining when they see a public health official not want to label this a gay disease and talking about "playing with bootyhole" does not come of like someone trying to have a serious conversation about the spread of monkeypox.

So did Osh get banned from this thread or NT in general?

Last time he posted was in this thread. I'd like to imagine that he's still able to post but drove out to the depths of the Canadian wilderness and dug a hole to sit in for a while until he gathers himself. Word to Fragile Frankie Merman.
He's been suspended from this specific thread - as has Kierris.

People seem to stop reading once they find a headline that appears to confirm their personal biases. From this same NBC news article currently making the rounds:
Dr. Rosamund Lewis, technical lead for monkeypox at the World Health Organization, told NBC News it was “unfortunate but true” that “we don’t know yet” whether the virus is predominantly transmitted through intercourse.

“Completely reading the situation as uniquely due to anal or oral sex is highly likely to be overreach,” she said. “The correlation may appear to be strong, but that does not explain the whole picture of disease caused by this virus. So we need to keep an open mind.”

Some experts in infectious disease see evidence supporting the argument that monkeypox at least transmits more readily through intercourse.

“At this point,” said Dr. Paul Adamson, an infectious disease specialist at the UCLA School of Medicine, “I’m not sure we can say it is primarily the sexual transmission and not the skin-to-skin contact that also occurs during sex that is contributing to the most transmission during this current outbreak. However, emerging data seem to suggest that monkeypox might be more efficiently transmitted sexually.”

As researchers learn more about the MPX outbreak and how it's spread, it's important to take note of the latest findings so that we're better able to protect ourselves and each other.

That said, it's important to be mindful of the delays between infection, infectiousness, and reported cases. While the outbreak is disproportionately impacting gay and bisexual men, and may spread more efficiently through sex, everyone else is not inherently immune.

Everyone should familiarize themselves with the signs and symptoms of MPX, and how it's transmitted.

Door Dash?

Uber Eats?

How did he pay? In cash? Card?

So many questions for the cashier.

Personally I would be hesitant to accept cards / money or anything else that requires physical contact from him.

Service workers got it bad enough.

Also...

McDonalds = Groceries???

Amazon delivers actual groceries.

Seems like an unnecessary risk...then to post about it?

Wildin!

Service denied due to infectious disease.

I really want this to be true, but have been fooled by a temporary turn of events so much recently that I'm having a hard time believing the trend will hold.

God ****ing dammit, I'm going to be at Disney World next month. If its at Disney Land, no doubt its going to spread through nasty *** Florida by then.

Just a couple discouraging headlines...
