I have no problem but I'm just wondering what's behind it...

i know it's not a slang term nor some sort of ebnonics.

I hear them say grown man so often...any thoughts?

I think Jay Z started it.

it's stating a time when you get out of your "ghetto" persona and into your older more mature self.

Can it be argued that when someone says "grown man" they're really not grown at all? I think if one were truly grown, people would be able totell without you having to state it.

i think OP means more like

"im finna cop me that cardigan and get my grown man on"

"I'm bout to get my grown man on"

I found that this phrase is most frequently used when a hood kid/guy dresses up (suit, tie, slacks).
Most of the time it has nothing to do with their mentality, just their style/steez.

THIS

"Grown man" and "black boy/white boy" are overused.
