Windows 7 out now

Been messing with the RC since release date. Got W7 Pro for free, but havent done a clean install yet.

I think W7 is a HUGE step over XP. Whoever said XP was boring is on point. W7 brings out this new freshness to using computers. Much easier to work with andthe new features are great.

-That snip tool for example will come in handy
-The new task bar is great. You dont have to download 3rd party software like Objectdock to have your programs neatly organized. That means less clutter onyour desktop (my desktop is still messy though

)
-If you're at a college/university, check to see if your school is in the MSDN program. You can get a bunch of free software (no MS office though) likepast OS (both versions), Access, Visio.

I think you can't run W7 as of yet via bootcamp...some one correct me if Im wrong.

I'll correct you. You are able to run Windows 7 via BootCamp on a mbp.

I just got a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. Unfortunately it's only 32 bit, but it looks like MS just blacked out the 64 bit info on the back, so Ishould be able to use the key for the 64 version

You should go to the computer center/lab on your campus and talk to the folks over there.

I got an account through my CIS class that I signed up this semester. The process of signing up may be different, but I gave them my email and they sent backan email saying Im registered into the system. I forgot to mention that you need a student ID # also.

Honestly, with the MSDN program, I only find the OS useful. The rest I dont think I will ever use, but it may be useful to some of you guys. Heres a list ofthe software at my school (I think theyre all the same for every school).

You can just use the backup bookmarks function built-in to Firefox and then use the import function. For the passwords, you can just download the add-on that will save and let you export them. It takes a couple of minutes.
good look..... i should have spent more time looking at firefox's functions. I was too anxious to get the OS running.

Click start. type in snip tool in the search bar and it should come up.

For snap, drag your browser or any window really to the top to maximize. drag it to the side and the window fills up half the screen vertically.

If youre not willing to shell out the money for W7 then sure stick with XP. But if you can get it for really cheap (is that even possible

) oreven free then I would def upgrade.

I'll correct you. You are able to run Windows 7 via BootCamp on a mbp.

I've been trying to figure out how to do this for my mbp. Can anyone help me with a link or instructions? Thanks

My 7 cd I burnt from Microsoft isn't working. So I just signed up for the free 90 day trial of Windows 7 Enterprise on Microsoft Springboard and amdownloading that now. MS don' turned into some crooks about those product keys now. I told her it's just a fresh reinstall on the same computer, andthey still don't want to reset my key or give me a new one for XP Home. I been trying Keygens, but the keys I get never work.

I placed the order on October 21st from the links back1ntheday posted, sent a scanned copy of the receipt (proof of purchase) via e-mail to the one provided inthe confirmation e-mail I received. After that, I have not received an e-mail from Microsoft in regards to the copy of the proof of purchase I e-mailed, or onmy purchase it self.

Any idea what I do from here?

Man, I didn't even resort to downloading it illegally. I signed up and burned it off the Microsoft website the right way, but neither of the discs work andthis after all that damn time I took to download it.

Well, it was a free download from Microsoft Springboard, but still I'm heated. It worked far enough on the .iso version download to just delete what Ialready had (said XP Professional couldn't just be upgraded so I had to start fresh), but then it kept saying files were corrupted.

I have windows 7 Ultimate but I looked on the sony website and there weren't any drivers for my laptop. Do you think these vista drivers I have arecompatible or do you think I would be taking a gamble if I try?

Why doesn't my "recently open files" appear on the taskbar? I have it checked on the taskbar and start menu properties but it still doesn'tshow up?
