My headset was 40$, iIget game and chat audio, and the directional audio is good enough to tell me where the shots are coming from/other noise. It's wired but Idc about that at all.

MAN I CAN'T DO WIRED AT ALL. I SIT WAY ACROSS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROOM FROM MY PLASMA. MY DOG IS GONNA HAVE A FIELD DAY ON THAT WIRE FOR SURE. PLUS I CONSISTENTLY GET UP AND HIT THE FRIDGE, WALK AROUND, ETC. WITH MY WIRELESS CONTROLLER. WOULD LIKE THAT SAME FREEDOM WITH MY HEADSET.

GONNA GO TAKE A LOOK ONLINE AT SOME ASTROS AND SEE WHAT I COME UP WITH.
It actually gets all its power from the controller, doesn't go into the console at all.

What is it?
Turtle Beach Recon

Were you ever able to fix the chat audio or whatever issue it was you were having with the controller or chat adapter?

wait the a50s you still need the cord?! I thought they were wireless those are the ones I want

YEA FOR CHATTING. APPARENTLY IT ISN'T COMPLETELY 100% WIRELESS LIKE THE TURTLE BEACH.

WITH THAT SAID, I THINK I'M GOING WITH THE TURTLE BEACH 800X. GONNA HEAD OVER TO BEST BUY WHEN I GET OFF WORK.

Any more? Still need to cop

I don't think so. I had reserved the bundle with the charging stand from GameStop the day the controller released. It was supposed to be delivered next week, but I guess retailers are getting shipments in. That may be an indication to start checking your stores.

If you can, stop by a Gamestop and see if they have the 800x hanging on the wall to "test out". Just see if it's comfortable enough to game with all day. You won't want them tight on your head but you don't want em loose, either.

That was the MAIN difference besides quality and sound quality for me between the two brands. Astros I can literally wear all day if I wanted and not have any issues at all, where Turtle Beaches eventually I'd get uncomfortable wearing and take em off.

I'm Astro for Life tho, but I really do recommend trying the 800x on first.

Post your review once you use them. I was tempted to get them but everyone swore by ASTRO and I don't anybody who got the 800 series.

never though i'd see the day that turtle beaches could be priced the same as astros AND get picked over astros

the selling point of the TB (wireless mic) is what is complained about most on the reviews.

I Do and its amazing literally everthing is right there plugged in your controller

Hmm, may consider having Wifey buy it for me for Xmas.. I'm wondering if the sound quality it produces is better than the Xbox Adapter. Which is meh.

Have you tried the Xbox Adapter? Would you say the sound is different?

Thinking about that M80 plugged into my Elite Controller get me all giddy.

Speaking of Astros.. does anyone have the Astro M80 Mix Amp?

If you do, how are they?

I believe that comes with the set that I have.

I think it works great! You're able to adjust the volume so easily and to your own preference depending if you want more game volume, chat volume or something in between. There's also 3 presets that for chat, game and a mix of both. The actual mix amp fits very well into the controller and doesn't bother the hands at all. The knob for the volume turns smoothly and doesn't feel cheap. The buttons to switch between presets don't stick out, but press in nicely. To much, you just press in on the volume knob and the light will turn red. I've mentioned it already, but the A40s with this mix amp have been one of my best gaming related purchases and I don't regret it one bit.

That one wire plugged into the one controller you're using and into the one headset you're using and doesn't interfere with you whatsoever while playing??

TRASH

What? I thought this was the same as the Xbox Chat Adapter just Astro's version?

There's a wire that attaches to it?

I pictured it literally being the same as the Chat Adapter in my controller just upgrading lol

Memph, if you're worried about the mic quality on the 800X, TB put out a patch for them. I've been using them for the past three weeks and they're dope. Just plug the headset and base up to your computer to update the firmware on both. Everything you need is on the TB website. There are a few options to improve the level of your mic too. The headset has various presets to adjust the microphone level. Loud room, quiet room, etc. You can also turn off the mic monitoring and noise cancellation, which also help improve your voice quality.

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. I was going to get the A50s until I realized you still had to use a chat cable, even with the Xbox One redesigned model. That was a deal breaker for me so I chose the 800X.

Hmm it's sounding like imma have to get this then.

I have an older A40 headset and disposed of the mix amp once the XB1 came out since it wouldn't work anymore. Hoping this will upgrade the sound quality of my headset.

I'm not sure if the comment on the wire was a knock on it, but I don't perceive it as something that bothers me or gets in my way. It fits into the controller just like the chatpad and there's a wire going to the headset. It's fine with me :D
