Over $9,000/ month in expenses for a couple with no kids living in Atlanta is ridiculous. It's not like they're in the Bay Area, NYC, DC, Chicago, Boston where their rent is $4K, Atlanta is a pretty cheap major city. $405/month on "personal maintenance"? How many times is she getting her hair and nails done? How many wigs is she getting?

$500/month on clothes? It's a pandemic! We're not going anywhere.

This makes no sense. Plus she doesn't even own a home and is still renting? How Sway? My dad always used to say me this: "you can't out earn bad financial decisions". There are people making millions who live paycheck to paycheck. Brianna is smart and has a good job (she's an engineer or something) but seems like she's awful with money.

The way they portrayed the finances conversation is a little ****** up. In a vacuum, it’s tucked up IMO because it’s unclear how much they make. If those 110K and 90K then that’s roughly $3200 and $2700, per biweekly paycheck, respectively, so let’s assume $12K per month so they’d still be “saving” but I won’t comment on the amount as I don’t know their financial situation.

Having said that, I don’t know much about the real estate/renting or cost of living market in Atlanta but from what folks have told me in the past, I was under the guise it was cheap. $9K seems extremely high as a total but I imagine that accounts for two rental payments which should help the total come down significantly when they move in.

As for itemized expenses - $500 for travel/month is OD for a married couple. In 8-years of long distance relationships, I wasn’t even averaging that. We’re dates and entertainment $500 each or was it one expense? I would consider them the same but $500 for dates isn’t bad at all IMO. I don’t really buy groceries but $500 seems like a lot even if you’re going to Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s so that might need to be fixed. Y’all didn’t touch on it but the $500 per month on clothes was a lot to me.

I don’t think she was asking it in a literal manner. I’ve been in relationships with people wanted to save, cop a crib, clear debt, etc because of things that they experienced or saw with their parent/family members. I also know there are people who make good money and only want to focus on saving without any fun whereas there are folks in the same pay grade who want to spend some of that money and live a little here and there while they still can but still save. There’s a balance.

Vinny said he was raised by his grandmother in The Bronx so I assumed he grew up poor and his parents weren’t around much and he wants to save to provide the opposite life for his family.
