we shut down Darren evans last year
They also have no proven recievers

I just dont see it

Tyrod will be the best offensive player on the field in that game.

There's a reason Beamer tried to shirt his *#% last year. Tyrod is garbage. Glennon even outplayed him last year against us. And our offense was dreadfulthat game too yet we still one.

I honestly expect the game to be a blowout. We're most likely going 1-3 in the 1st four but we will dominate the Chokies. Bank on it.

Oregon just picked up 3* QB Bryan Bennett. Sounds like he's got some good upside and if Chip Kelly likes him, than so do I!

This aint your 05-07canes...we acually have threats on offense now.
We have one of the if not the best WR corps in the ACC and a good trio of Running backs

You point out growth and potential...dont yout think all our freshman will be a tad bit better this season?
Dont you think Jacory might have grown as a player in the off season?

aint no arguing the coaching...Beamer is better period

But havin Jacory, Aldarious, Spence, Mrob, Benjamin, and Bryd a year older is SCARY
And i aint even mention Forston, Streeter, VT....

VT could easily pull out the W but its not the lock you guys claim...

I
I said best offensive player, there is a difference.

I have never been a fan of Harris. He lived off the talent at MNW and was nothing but average last year. Maybe it's unfair but it's just my opinion.Your WR's won't matter if Harris can't get them the ball. Jacory is still a young QB who can be confused, Bud Foster is the best DC in CFB.
Yes Miami will have players improve and I love their young talent. But there is still a ton of youth on that team. Will their improvement be enough to matchVT's overall team, I don't think so. And will those improvements come at the key positions Miami needs?

And to the person saying there was a reason why Tyrod was going to be redshirted. Beamer tried to buy an extra year of Tyrod. RS him and get another year ofhim being the sole starter. Glennon couldn't do that so they needed his playmaking ability.

It's easy to talk big when you don't have to back it up.

Not really. New OC, New DC. Unproven talent. I don't have any hopes. I just know we're gonna beat VT.

Q: From Sean in Las Vegas: Why is Penn State consistently referred to as "Linebacker U" when its credentials don't merit that title ? especially when you factor in NFL resumes? Florida State should be "Linebacker U." Sam Cowart, Peter Boulware, Kendyll Pope, Derrick Brooks, Marvin Jones, Henri Crockett, Ernie Sims, Tommy Polley, Reinard Wilson, Lawrence Timmons, Kamerion Wimbley, Alonzo Jackson and Everette Brown played at Florida State, and Nigel Bradham is the next great one.

A: Florida State's linebacker alumni list is impressive. But Penn State was known as "Linebacker U" before Florida State became a national power.

Since 1969, Penn State has had 13 first-team All-America linebackers, and that doesn't include Matt Millen, who was named All-America as a defensive end before moving to linebacker in the NFL. The Lions' linebacker list includes Jack Ham, Ed O'Neil, Greg Buttle, Shane Conlan, Andre Collins, LaVar Arrington, Paul Posluszny, Lance Mehl and Dan Connor. Actually, I'd say Penn State's list compares favorably to Florida State's.

Bradham may be FSU's next great linebacker. But Penn State this season will have Sean Lee and Navorro Bowman, who both have All-America potential.

Lots of programs have a history of producing talented linebackers ? USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Texas A&M come to mind. But Penn State's past and its present give credibility to its designation as "Linebacker U."

FOH

PSU =/= Linebacker U.

Not saying FSU is, but it isn't PSU anymore.

Just skimming through that, I was going to point out alot of themdudes played with hands on the ground as well. Funny stuff

Armstead, Barrow, Lewis, Morgan, Vilma, Williams..........
Let's not forget Nate Webster, who was an absolute monster at UM, and has had a fine pro career. Darrin Smith as well. Miami is continuallyoverlooked as a Linebacker U candidate.

Dude was probably reaching to throw out as many FSU names as he could, to try and tilt it in FSU's favor.

But at least Peter and Kam played LB in the League, right?

FSU fullbacks evaluating futures

Written by Heather Dinich/ESPN.com

FSU fullbacks Marcus Sims and Seddrick Holloway are both taking some time to evaluate their futures at Florida State, offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher said on Thursday. Holloway was excused for some personal issues, but neither has been suspended or are in any trouble. They're both just evaluating their futures, what their roles are and where they want to be.

"Marcus is evaluating what he wants to do," Fisher said. "He's making some decisions about himself, too. He's just at a time in his career, so we'll wait and see how it goes."

A source said Sims is considering transferring to North Alabama, where Preston Parker landed after being kicked off the team. It makes sense, as they will play for Bobby Bowden's son, Terry Bowden.

Overall, though, Fisher said he's the most excited about this team since he arrived on campus. He said he loves their work ethic, and he's seeing a whole new attitude.

"You see a group that's tied together," he said. "Our attitude is tremendous. It's the best since I've been here. Now we've got 11 bowl teams to play, so I don't know if that equates to a lot better record, but I like our chances and where we're going. We're going to get there very quickly."

Fisher sounded especially excited about tight end Caz Piurowski, who will be more involved in the passing game this year and should be a much bigger factor now that they don't need him to help out the offensive line. He also pointed out players like Tavares Pressley and Ty Jones who will help the team take the next step.

The receivers, he said, have learned from their mistakes and he's noticed a difference in their attitude. Their grades are up, they're making better decisions and they understand the consequences of their actions.

Word is that Marcus is set on playing TB/RB, not HB/FB and doesn't like how it's looking for him next year. Where he would be the starterat FB and the Main back in Short yardage situations (providing he held on to the ball). Sed is just too big and coaches are unhappy w/ that.

Matt Dunham (if y'all remember him, broke one of Hershel Walkers records I believe) came back to school this summmer and would have a crack at the spot. Tobad he's at least a good 270-275 and in our 40 Yd dash testing last year, he ran like a 5.1.

Other Notables that y'all might (But probably don't) care about, Dekoda ran 4.39 & 4.43, Bert ran 4.30 & 4.34, Nigel B. ran 4.49, Huddy ran a4.9, Jermaine Thomas ran 4.49, Jajuan Harley ran 4.30 ans 4.31. Of course take these numbers w/ a grain of salt. Or a cup if you prefer. Timing was hand startbut laser finish.

Did you watch VT at all last year?
To say Tyrod will be the best offenive player on the field next year is truly laughable..
laugh.gif

He aint even betta than Darren Evans who BEASTED last year

and yea i guess a 170 pound true freshman who leads his teams to two comeback wins on the road is not impessive
grin.gif

mind you, this is all with him coming off the bench cold in the 2nd half

Tyrod had a 2-7 td to interception rate last year

Please tell me what he bring to the table to mention him as the best offensive player on the field
Florida self-reports 2 secondary NCAA violations in football
By Jeremy Fowler |Sentinel Staff Writer June 18, 2009
GAINESVILLE - The University of Florida football team committed two secondary NCAA violations in the last 12 months for improper contact with recruits.

Florida self-reported violations in June 2008 and January 2009 for instances involving Coach Urban Meyer and an assistant, according to school records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel through a public records request.

The Sentinel filed a request for any primary or secondary NCAA violations over a 12-month span. Florida provided records from June 2008 to June 2009.

Meyer and a Gators assistant violated NCAA bylaw 13.1.3.1.1 after placing a call to the same prospect. Florida reported the violation on June 3, 2008. The NCAA rule states telephone contact is limited to once per week outside of a contact period. The identity of the recruit is unknown.

The Southeastern Conference issued a letter of admonishment and conduct rules review to the coaches, while UF couldn't recruit that prospect for two days -- twice the number of days the improper activity occurred. Meyer and an assistant later violated bylaw 13.1.7.2 when visiting a recruit at his high school the same day the recruit had a game.

No contact is permitted before competition. Florida reported the violation on Jan. 28.

The coaches ended the conversation once learning of the game, according to school records. The day was a Wednesday and out of the regular football season.

Florida accepted "institutional action" for the violation, according to the school records. Both cases have been closed.

Secondary NCAA violations have made headlines lately thanks to Florida's heated rival, Tennessee, which has reported at least four minor violations since Coach Lane Kiffin took the job on Dec. 1.

This weekend is shaping up as another impressive showing for Tennessee's football recruiters.

UT is hosting hundreds of campers for its annual summer camp. Many are among the nation's elite prospects.

The camp, which began on Thursday and concludes on Saturday, is a valuable recruiting tool because UT's coaches are allowed to work out prospects.

Recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron has frequently said that seeing prospects firsthand in a camp setting is one of the most important aspects of hisevaluations.

The camp, which is off limits to the media, also allows Tennessee to showcase its facilities to prospective athletes.

UT hosted more than 400 campers for three individual day camps earlier this month. Attendance at overnight camps is usually greater because prospects can stayat UT's facilities.

Here are some notables who were expected to attend:

Jesse Scroggins: The quarterback from Lakewood (Calif.) High School seems a good fit for UT. He has family in Memphis and is one of the top high school QBprospects in the nation, which is the top priority for the Vols' 2010 class.

UT has missed out on some other highly rated quarterback prospects.

Pahokee High School: So much for the tiff between UT head coach Lane Kiffin and this Florida high school. UT will host 13 prospects from Pahokee.

UT has offered scholarships to receiver De'Joshua Johnson, linebacker Zachary Allen, cornerback Merrill Noel and defensive linemen Richard Ash and AntonioFord.

Noel, Johnson, Allen and Ash are visiting UT this weekend.

Signing former athlete Nu'Keese Richardson from Pahokee last February can only help the Vols build a pipeline into Florida.

Miami Northwestern: The talent-rich school sent a handful of prospects this weekend.

Offensive guard Torrian Wilson is one headliner. UT has offered Wilson a scholarship. He is still considering several schools.

Miami commitment Todd Chandler is also thought to be in town.

Jeff Luc: Many believe the prospect from Treasure Coast High School in Port St. Lucie, Fla. is the best high school linebacker prospect in the country. Hispresence at Tennessee's camp will turn some heads.

Jarred Haggins: An athlete from Lakeland (Fla.) High School, Haggins has said he's close to announcing a decision. There are plenty of suitors awaitingthat announcement.

UT's ability to recruit South Florida so quickly and effectively has been impressive. Credit UT assistant coach Eddie Gran.

Lache Seastrunk: One of the nation's elite tailback prospects from Temple (Texas) High School. Rivals ranks Seastrunk No. 1 among high school tailbacks inthe 2010 class. Scout has him at No. 2.

Cody Riggs: Many thought Notre Dame had the lead for this defensive back from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Then Riggs reportedly named Floridaand Georgia as co-leaders. UT has an inside track. Riggs is the younger brother of former UT tailback Gerald Riggs, Jr.

Lamarcus Joyner: Another standout defensive back from St. Thomas Aquinas, the cornerback is considered one of the elite prospects in the nation.

Keion Payne: Yet another defensive back from St. Thomas Aquinas. Payne isn't rated as highly as his teammates but is a solid prospect. He recently spokehighly about a visit to Miami.

DeMarco Cobbs: The athlete from Tulsa (Ok.) High School was recently named one of the top standouts at an Oklahoma camp. A versatile athlete with good size,Cobbs will likely play receiver in college.

Evan Hailes: The defensive tackle from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va. has said he'd like to play with former high school teammate Jerod Askew,a Tennessee signee. Hailes has said he expects to make a decision soon. The Vols appear to be in good standing.

Jonathan Mincy: Tennessee has some work to do to land the cornerback from Southwest Dekalb High School in Decatur, Ga. Mincy has taken three visits to Auburnand has called the Tigers a strong leader.

Anthony Johnson: A commitment for the 2011 class, Johnson is another tie into Louisiana via O. Perry High School in New Orleans.

Urell Johnson: A speedy cornerback from O. Perry High School, Johnson would be a good fit for the Vols. UT assistant Frank Wilson should have the inside track. He coached at O Perry.
