Thorpe award has pretty much lost its legitimacy in my eyes after the past couple of years. When Aaron Ross won it over Dameiyon Hughes/AntoineCason & then this year when Malcolm Jenkins won it over EB.Originally Posted by GUNNA GET IT

? Can't take your official visits, can't sign a LOI (at least not on signing day). Let's be real, there's another reason whyyou'd be in the 10% of HSers who haven't taken your SAT/ACT before even damn February. If you know you'regonna pass, you'd be stupid not to get it out of the way. Whatever, I just don't see any benefit to it one way or the other.Originally Posted by dreClark
Or it could be the opposite, where the kid knows he's gonna pass and that he isn't gonna be an Early Enrollee, so there is no rush. As long as he takes it in time to be there for summer school
I know that.Originally Posted by ddot7

Supposed to be a player but will end up going JUCO, who knows if he'll ever get to the point of being able to qualify for a D1-A school, outside of like Louisville or something.

Dont forget Derrick Straight winning it over Sean Taylor..

Not many schools went deep across the middle against SC.
He's overrated, but guys on here are being way too critical.
How can you call him overrated then in the next sentence say that people are being way to critical?
Why WOULDN'T people be critical of a player who may not necessarily be living up to his billing.
I don't think there's anyone who called him a flat out bum, or anything like that
Richardson blown away by Vol visit
Talk about it in the Message Boards
This weekend, Nu'keese Richardson a commitment to the Florida Gators looked to visit Tennessee to just enjoy a fun trip and no pressure, as the speedy star was solidly in the Gators' corner. However, at the conclusion of the visit over to Knoxville, that might not be the case anymore. FV caught up with Richardson moments after he arrived back in Pahokee to talk about the visit, and if that commitment to the Gators will stick on National Signing Day.
Nu'keese "Pete" Richardson a star receiver of Pahokee has been a Florida Gator commitment so long that it was inevitable the speedy wide out would stick with his verbal, especially when you consider how he fit into the wide open attack of Urban Meyer and the Gator program. But that appeared to all change after Richardson decided to take a last visit this weekend to Tennessee, after the Volunteer coaching staff met with Richardson a week earlier. Fast forwarding to this weekend, Richardson now appears to be seriously considering the Volunteers after a big time visit.
Richardson now has a tough choice in deciding between Tennessee and Florida
"It was amazing and to be honest, I was pretty blown away with the trip over there. It was the first time I had ever been there and everything was perfect. I can't really say one thing was better than the other because I loved everything about the trip. Right now I just have a lot of thinking and talking to do with my family," explained Richardson.
Upon arriving in Tennessee, Richardson broke down some of the highlights, which included his time at the Volunteer basketball game ironically with the Florida Gators. Richardson also talked about how Tennessee plans to use him in their system.
"My host was Chris Walker and he was a really cool guy to hang out with. He's got a pretty open personality like myself so we connected well. I talked with Coach Gran and they plan on using me in the slot and just getting me the ball as much as possible in their pro style offense. I then got a tour of the campus and then went over to Neyland Stadium. That is the biggest Stadium I've ever seen in my life. I think they said it holds over 106,000, so that was really incredible. Finally, we went over to the basketball game last night and the fans are absolutely nuts they way they love their team. They were into the game from beginning to end so that also caught my attention," Richardson added.
The biggest impression from Richardson appeared to be the Volunteer coaching staff which is loaded with former great coaches over the years like Lance Thompson formerly from Alabama, Eddie Gran from Auburn, Lane Kiffin out of USC and Ed Orgeron from Ole Miss just to name a few.
"This is a great staff with a lot of energy. I connected well with all of them and the coaches did a very good job at showing me in good detail about how I would be utilized in the offense there. I'll be honest, I was pretty shocked and stunned in how much I really liked Tennessee. My family also loved the visit. My Aunt going on the visit with me."
So with the amazing visit to Tennessee, how much of a shake up does that do in the decision for Richardson considering he's feelings about the Gators and how much he loved it there?
"I don't know it's going to be really difficult now because Tennessee certainly showed me somethings I didn't see at Florida and that impressed me tremendously. I don't want to rush and making a decision yet so I'm going to let things settle down in my head, talk it over with the family and come to a conclusion about which school I will sign with just before signing day."
The decision of the final choice will probably come down to two factors.
"I would have to say playing time is a big part of the decision and really how comfortable I feel with the coaching staff. Obviously I want a place where I can get on the field early because I'm such a strong competitor. Either way, It's going to be a tough decision and I will be nervous on signing day, but I will be relieved once I know for sure which school I will be attending the next four years. I never would have imagined it would come to this because I really like Florida, but in the end, I'm going to make the right decision that's best for me and my family," Richardson concluded.
As a junior, Richardson did it all for the Pahokee Blue Devils finishing with over 1,500 all-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns. Richardson was also named the 2B Class Player of the Year and was also a 1st team All-State selection. Richardson is rated as the no. 14 prospect overall in the FV Top 100.
Uh oh...
Sounds like that boy had a great time at UT.
And word is that Debose had a GREAT visit @ FSU this weekend as well
An official on the last visit right before NSD, is so dangerous if the kid visit's a legit school. Plus the team that has his committment can't contacthim anymore.
I expect them both to stick to their committments, but still.
If the QB situation is the same as last year, then im sure he will get some carries in the backfield, snaps at QB, & he prolly returns punts& kicks. He will have the ball in his hand no question about itOriginally Posted by raw120
who is going to throw nukeese the ball at UT?
also unsure why andre would even consider going to tallycrappy?
no doubt that both of them were pretty bad, but maybe its because im jaded on the subject. But i honestly dont even see how they could haveconsidered anybody else for the award. But like i said before, the Thorpe award has become a joke for the most part, the best player normally doesnt win it,unless he's an upperclassman, mostly seniors tho. Thas the only reason that Malcolm won it over EB, and Mays even being in the discussion for this is adamn shameOriginally Posted by dreClark

I think the ST travesty was even worse.
Malcolm BALLED out this year.
Lol Hata in the house. Only reason these recruits (Gred Reid, Nick Kasa, etc) are not going to Gville is because we are already so LOADED withtalent that they are afraid they may never play. At FSU or UT, these guys would be the best player on the team offense this year. How many five starreceivers does FSU and UT have over the past five years. None. Florida has a boat load. With that said, Keese will probably goto UT and Debose will probablystick with the Gators. Keese would probably redshirt at Florida, Debose would definitely play his first year.Originally Posted by jville819

no, its because UF has Tim Tebow. If you look at the level of talent of both teams outside the QB & compare them. The difference is not asmuch as you think, also UF has better coaching(arguably)Originally Posted by GTownBaller23

Word to jville, this is why FSU is not on the same level as Florida like they used to be. You guys (for the most part) just take the scraps we don't want, or the players too scared to come to UF.
Who is gonna throw Pete the ball @ UF after Tebow leaves? Brantley? Elam? (Or is Elam playing Safety)Originally Posted by raw120

Ehhhhhh......
Who knows. Maybe to get better prepared for the NFL? I dunno.
But, we'll see...
