If we had the OG offer on the table right now, he prolly woulda signed already. Quit screwin around with hurt feelins and such, and just get the guy back on the squad.
And losing LO and Ariza for Artest as a wash is the dumbest thing I have ever read. Beyond stupid.
I would just like to express how dumb I think this is. It's like they aren't that serious about getting him back. Give him the OG offerand if he decides to leave then fine, but don't lower it and make it more enticing for him to take Miami's deal.Originally Posted by CP1708

i think he did, buss offered him the 3/27 then bumped it up to 3/30 or 4/36 and LO never accpeted, thats why i could understand buss would pullthe offer because he offered him all those and LO was a dummy to not accept it , thats why i dont blame Buss for lowering his offer.Originally Posted by imINchucks5

Hoopsworld : The Lakers new offer is said to be a three-year offer in the $25 million range with possible performance incentives included in the deal that could push it north of $27 million, if the Lakers reach the NBA Finals again.

that's still a reasonable offer imo
NobleKane:
you should NEVER pay a benchplayer 10 million. that is ridiculous...especially one that doesnt show up every game... anybody else watch all of phil jackson's game winning finals games? did you see how horrific those championship teams benches were ???? good lord hahahaa its all about the starting core.
This.
And some (even Lamar) might say 'Well that's why he had a problem at first when he was turned into a bench player. He went ahead and took the benchrole, but he didn't like it because he knew what that meant, that people would look at him as a bench player now.'
And my response to that? Well, then, he should have played better before that. Could you imagine anyone putting Pau on the bench? No. Lamar played like aninconsistent, sometimes clueless starter, so the logical thing to do is to move him t the bench. And you don't pay a bench player $10mil. And heis a bench player. Among the best 6th men in the league, but a 6th man, nonetheless.

Odom>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bynum though
as much as odom acts indifferent for stretches during the season, bynum just does not give a damn AT ALL if he does not get shots
when he does he still misses and jogs in slow motion on defense
I have never seen dude be consistent or dangerous with his 1 on 1 moves
he only thrives when attention is given to Gasol and Kobe and teams forget that he is on the court
@ the lakers if they think Bynum will help with losing odom
Words of wisdom... It is our unique set of circumstances that make him so valuable... I only wish Jerry Buss could read this postOriginally Posted by CP1708

Because somebody PLEASE tell me how ya'll goin to feel when Bynum or Gasol gets hurt, and Josh Powell is inserted into our starting lineup to guard Duncan, Sheed, (or KG), Rashard Lewis, Lamarcus Aldrige, or K-Mart for any period of time.
Lamar protects this ENTIRE franchise from that travesty happening.
WE CAN NOT GO OUT AND GET ANYBODY ELSE OF EQUAL VALUE, THERE IS NO OTHER SOLUTION.
If we let Lamar walk over a damn million dollars extra a year, or two million, or a million and a half just over some BS belief that no player off the bench is worth 9 or 10 mil a year when chances are pretty good that that player will actually start for half a season, or in the postseason, or whenever, and will keep us protected, and among the elite for the next 2-3 years to compete for chamipionships, then I don't know what to tell you. We are no longer fighting for the second round. I do not give a @#$% about making the playoffs. If we trade Lamar for some other pieces, that's one thing. If we package him, it's one thing, if we LET HIM WALK OVER WOUNDED PRIDE IN THE NAME OF 2 MILLION DOLLARS, WE ARE STUPID!!!!!!!!
How people can sit here and say let him go, let him go, rather save a million bucks is BEYOND ME. The minute, and I MEAN MINUTE that Pau or Bynum gets hurt, what the hell are you all going to say then? "boy, wish we had that extra 2 million for Lamar"
HE HAS TO STAY. Yes, he is inconsistent. No, he probably isn't WORTH 10 million on his own, but THIS FRANCHISE, AND OUR CHAMPIONSHIP WINDOW IS WORTH 10 MILLION FIFTY TIMES OVER.
For that, give the guy his 2 million a year, or whatever. We're already over the cap, we can't simply go get another guy who is worth 8-9 million, that's not how the cap works. We can only get OUR OWN players for 8-9 million, so if it comes down to a few extra bucks, YOU SIGN THAT PLAYER AND PROTECT THE INVESTMENTS YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE.
It's that simple.

Odom is the new Kobe. "OUR ENTIRE FRANCHISE RESTS ON HIS SHOULDERS!! IMMINENT DOOM IS UPON US IF HE LEAVES!!! ONOEZ!!!"
We've won 1 with him, 14 without him.
