Legitimate is 8 million, but not 9?

This is what we are arguing about. If LO asked for 2 years 153 million, I'd be right in line with you guys. He's not.

He's asking that instead of going from 14 million to 8 million, to go from 14 million to 9 mil. Or 10 mil.

Or instead of taking the less money for 3 years, to take it for 4 years.

And he went to the bench in his contract year, and did it well enough to help us win a title. And now we're asking him to take a pay cut for his efforts. Based on bench production, rather then the numbers he coulda put up as a starter instead.

But that 1-2 million dollars means more to us, then an easier path to the championship? Ok.

LO mad a big sacrafice for us and I think we need to return the favor. He is worth $10 million, although we don't ask him to play up to it.Also, his agent has seen the large paydays given to Luke, Sasha and Bynum.

We don't have to worry about further issues. We have everyone locked up for the next 2 years. We need to re-do Kobe and Pau when that time comes, but we have at minimum, 2 years to work with. In that time, Fisher will drop down. Sasha's deal will drop down, Farmar, etc etc etc.

So we have the chance to LOCK up this team, title front runner and the only issue messing with it is a couple mill. (or 1 extra year, whatever is goin on there)

Once all of this is over, Kobe is old, Pau is old, Odom is old, Fish is long gone, and so on, we start anew. We don't have to worry about players battling us over 1 or 2 mill, we start from scratch, we re-build the team with young guys, get a free agent, and then we get back to work. Nobody will remember 5 years from now that extra mill we gave Lamar.
Like I said earlier in the thread (at least I think): I wouldn't mind if Lamar was signed for $10 mil, but I wouldn't prefer it. Iwouldn't get all doomsday if it happened, but I'd feel like we overpaid while being grateful that he's still a Laker.

But all of the doomsday talk in response to the possibility of not signing him? Craziness, in my opinion. If son is THAT important, like there's ZEROPERCENT possibility of us repeating if he walks, then hell, offer a $30mil per year contract.

First off LO isn't worth 10 mil to anyone except himself and his agent. Secondly that last part is precisely why we don't need to overpayagain, we have done it 3 times and haven't received anywhere near the production from those other guys, and with Odom's lackadaisical attitude that hecomes with, I think 8 mil is more than fair.

Whereas, if we keep Odom, then we jump ahead of all of those teams, #1, possibly #2, but still, clear cut favs in the West, with 60-62 wins in sight, and a trip to the finals where we can at least flip a coin vs whoever we face.

This is the deal... i have always been on the trade LO bandwagon, because i see his character... 75% of the time we hold our breathe when he is going for alayup. like SKA said earlier, he was DEMOTED to the bench. If he played consistently up to his potential, then i would be itching for him to sign with us...but we ALL have been through this for the last 3 years... signing players who SHOW OFF during their contract year... only to be let down the next year...(Sasha.. Luke.. Bynum)

Im sorry but this ungratefull bastard, turned down the juicest deal we offered to him... He is a cog in a championship engine, he isnt the engine.
Lamar Odom is not > the Laker organization.... and he has basically bit off more than he can chew.
I wouldnt mind him signing back... but if he doesnt it aint the end of the world.... he will be replaced.... yes our bench would be weak, but we can over comeit.

i would perfer we sign and trade him.... as well as a package with Luke Walton. Since Miami wants him so bad, they can swing a 3 team deal with Boozer, and wecan end up with Haslem. at least he shows up every game,

Like the Lakers not getting Odom back has any effect on the Cavs even making it out of the East, they are the 3rd best team in the East right now with all oftheir "power moves" this offseason.

He didn't take them and start talking to the heat so we pulled them.

Now Buss is thiking about tax considerations and I don't blame him.

I think the offer thats out there now is fair but I do understand why LO would bolt.

Point being, his agent knows we have overpaid and he's trying to get that for his client. IMO, there's not many 4s out there that fit our offensebetter than Odom.

Odom is only worth that much money if he is starting.. If you remember his numbers and performance was atrocious till Bynum went out. Unless you can guaranteeone of our bigs will get injured every year for the next 3 years he's not worth 30 million. He doesn't show up enough off the bench to make that kindacash. We can find someone to put up 8 and 5 off the bench that plays 30 minutes a night.. sorry its the truth..
