[::2009 Champion LAKERS OFF-SEASON THREAD Vol. Boring Non-News Days Causing In-Thread Tension::]

Pessimism is annoying.

I think that Lamar is trying to hold out, thinking that the Lakers will eventually give him what he wants. He'll probably try to accept one of the dealsonce he sees that these deals were the best they'd give.

The possibility of signing with Miami is there, because he likes playing there just as much as he does in LA. But the money is practically the same, andI'm not sure a starting job is worth more than equally major playing time on a championship team.

Whichever, just stop crying. It would be annoying if all this whining happened when he did sign a contract with another team, so you can imagine how it lookswhen he hasn't even made a decision yet.

More Lamar....
Odom update
Here are a few lines from an Associated Press story from Miami: "The Miami Heat, who traded Odom to the Lakers five years ago in the trade that brought Shaquille O'Neal(notes) to South Florida, have made the free agent forward an offer to return and help Dwyane Wade once again. The team has not revealed terms of the offer, although it's believed to be a five-year package that could be worth around $35 million."

Wade, who was a rookie when Odom played his one and only season in Miami in 2003-04, told the AP in a telephone interview: "I want Lamar to do what's best for him and his family because we love him as family, but on the other hand, we want him back home, to come home. His house is still there. It'd be exciting to see what happens."

Wade also told the AP he doesn't need to call Odom in order to recruit him.

"Lamar already knows how I feel," Wade said. "I really don't know how to feel. He's really taken time to deal with it, sit back. It's a very important decision in his life. It could be about where he ends his career. ... Lamar and I always had a great relationship.

OK......But Ric Bucher says...

RicBucherBtw, source says Heat haven't made an offer to LO. They still might, but consider this: Heat are hurting financially like everybody else.about 2 hours ago from web
So now they haven't made an offer but might. I also read that the Heat haven't even called the Jazz about Boozer but are"watching" the situation. We got folks all over NT talking about how deep the Heat's line up will be....

I am kinda tired of following this. Somebody just call if he stays or leaves...

John Hollinger was on ESPN radio

- Doesn't see Lamar wanting to play anywhere else aside from LA (Miami likely a 2nd choice)

- Lamar and Schwartz likely using the Heat as a ploy to up the offer of the Lakers

- Situation is like Buss and Schwartz playing poker, bluffing each other with no cards

- Wouldn't be shocked if this dragged into the Summer (possibly October-!!#)

I have learned that Lamar Odom had a phone conversation with Lakers owner Jerry Buss on Thursday. I am told the purpose of the call was to rebuild anybridges that Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz may have burned by not responding to the Lakers offer of 3-years $30 million, and 4-years for $36 million.

According to reports today, Miami is offering Odom a 5-year package.

I hope your not talking about me because im just joking and trying to have a good time, and i am not a pessimistic person at all.

Just relax, ive said from the start Lamar will be a Laker after everythings said and done. Theres no point to get annoyed, im sure laker fans who have no faithcan get irritating but
just ignore it and relax as long as Lamar comes back everything will be okay.

Hey I know his is WAAAAY early.. but IF and WHEN LO comes back.. Does anyone think the Lakers IF they stay healthy they could make a run at 70 wins this nextseason? They did just win 65 with Bynum out half the season and besides a few(CP the main
wink.gif
) we did upgrade at SF.. I know a lot of people are rolling thereeyes cause of how early I brought this up.. But my baseball team is done (METS) my football team might be better but probably not gonna make the playoffs(49ers) so the Lakers and Penguins are the only teams I have to look forward to... I'm predicting 70 on the dot...

Part of me would like to see Lamar sign elsewhere just so the possibility of signing Matt, The Underdog, Barnes becomes more of a reality.

Why? He had no handles nor a shot in Boston, rust or not he's done.

No I didn't mean you. From what it sounds like, Odom (or at least his agent) was trying to push the Lakers as far as they would go, then accept that offer.I could believe that the Heat haven't even made a formal offer yet, because they aren't in the best financial position yet and I don't think theywould risk losing that space in 2010 for Lamar Odom. Plus Kobe actually called and Wade didnt
