2009 football/soccer summer transfer rumors

what's the status on O. Martins?i'm a little suprised that no club wants him...
he's quick and athletic and could probably get you maybe a dozen goals a season...
no disrespect to Newcastle, but i think the Nigerian is more than capable of playing in a top tier league...

A lot of talk of Arsenal signing him. I'm kind of mixed about potentially getting him. He'll come at a reduced cost, he's good for8-10 goals a season and he'd probably fit in the Arsenal system. The problem is, he does not really bring anything new to the club except some speed upfront (which most Arsenal attackers have anyways). I'm hopeful Wenger goes after a target man...someone like van Nistelroy that gobbles up every chancethey get...Arsenal's fanciness in front of goal has been their kryptonite for 2-3 years now.

I dont think he'll end up with Arsenal though...probably a mid or bottom-of-the-table Premiership squad will spend 5 million pounds or so to get him.

Huntelaar is your man, come get him.

Parejo goes to Getafe as a compliment of the Granero return.

AS reports Xabi Alonso has been given the green light to negotiate his departure by Rafa Benitez so long as Liverpool buy a replacement.

Alvaro Arbeloa's signing depends on Gabriel Heinze's potential departure.

According to Marca, Liverpool has lowered their Xabi Alonso asking price to 36m.

so if ibra is going to barca?
he's gonna be back in LA in august?

now im gonna be on the hunt, God, Ibra, Thierry, and Farmar.

Eboue is one of the game's elite wingers. 9 mill for him is a bargain.

BTW, you gotta love the blood suckers over here in Toronto. On top of the minimum $140 tickets for the match against Real Madrid, they're charging $15 forReal's practice on August 6th

Paying to watch players run in circles, stretch and horse around.

Bring in Bianchi and it's a wrap...The man is a damn genius

If they bring Bianchi they have the best chance to win the WC. ^ True that!

Tevez, are you going to the game on the 8th?

Tickets are too expensive lol so i passed.

Anyone have more info on Arsenal.

Heard something on SSN about a Roma striker.

Also,

Met A.C. Milan today minus Ronaldinho at this soccer shop next to Gillette stadium.

I got some stuff from the event, I'll try and post pics later tonight.

I was hyped up when I heard Real was coming because of all the speculation that they were going to sign guys like Kaka, C. Ronaldo and Villa. WhenI saw the ticket prices starting at $140 (plus taxes and fees) I said **#$ it. $140+ to watch crappy Toronto FC against an unmotivated Real Madrid squad in ameaningless match in one of the worst stadiums in North America? What a joke.

Since there is no thread for the US Tour games and people have been posting about it in this thread I thought I would show you guys what I did today. Kind oflong story but I used emoticons and have some pics at end so worth it.

I was over by Worcester, MA with my little brother when my dad called me and told me A.C. Milan was going to be at "WEGOTSOCCER" (a soccer shop rightnext to Gillette Stadium)

It was almost noon and they were expected to arrive at 4 so I took off towards Foxboro only stopping to get a disposable camera since my camera was at home andthe phone camera I had on me sucks.

Arrived at the shop just after 1pm and got in line with my brother. Line didn't look too bad but I was told that they gave out wristbands earlier at 8AMso there would be people arriving later who would be in front of us
mad.gif

I went into the store to buy a jersey to get signed and was able to grab the last 09-10 kit (away white)
glasses.gif

They had tons of 08-09 kits both home and away that people were buying with no clue that they were the older model.

I was thinking why would you want Gooch to sign an 08-09 kit
laugh.gif
so i wasthankful for my luck.

Anyways, time crawls and the line gets deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep behind me

Then an AC Milan rep came out and said the team was running late and that there was a slim chance that the line I was in would get inside.
frown.gif

The people with wristbands (125?) were guaranteed and I was near the very top of the doubtful/hopeful line.

However, they were selling a package that would get you a wristband that came with a ticket to the game tomorrow as well as both 08-09 jerseys and some crappytrack jacket.
Only cost $500
indifferent.gif

It was too late to turn back so my bro and I stood for around 2 more hours until finally the team bus arrives at 5:10
and they start letting people in at 5:15 which gave around 45 minutes before they would leave.

The line moved quick at first and people were saying that my area had a good chance to make it inside but the line slowed down fast and I was getting nervous.

Finally there is only like 10 people ahead of me at 5:55 and they tell the line that they are going to cut if off in a minute.
A guy calls out for just 5 more people and I thought my hopes were done even had the
alien.gif
face for standing 4 hours for nothing.

But then by some miracle, the door opens again and the guy says "Final 10 people and that's it"

eek.gif

All 10 of us are high-fiving and pumping fists while everyone else is
mad.gif
yelling.

I go inside and see all the players and start taking pics with the camera while waiting.

Then at that time Ronaldinho decides to leave for some reason instead of staying the final 5 minutes.
eyes.gif

He wasn't even wearing training eqpt like the other players, instead he had some regular clothing.
Dissapointed with that but I was still happy to make it inside and meet all the other players.

Anyways, I go around the line and get my jersey signed and say good luck to Gooch and what not while my brother gets a poster signed and shakes Pirlo'shand which was his highlight of the day.

Here is what my brother and I walked out with.

Pics aren't that great because I just took them.
Have to get the camera film developed to get the pics of the players though.

So pretty much things turned out really good although it could have been a complete disaster.
Today when I woke up, I had no clue that I would end up meeting A.C. Milan and to end the day having this stuff is pretty crazy.

Now I just need to get the Jersey and poster framed so I can display.

I will post my story of the day in here also.

I was at Chelsea's practice session tonight at Cowboys Stadium. Attended the press conference and watched their whole practice from on the field. Met andtook a picture with Michael Essien.

I have over 40 pictures on my blog: Angry Trey's Blog: Chelsea FC Practice Session @ CowboysStadium...Video, Pictures, and Audio

yes at 4:30 pm Eastern vs. Al Ittihad. Cristiano's debut at the Bernabeu. He has never played there before with any team.

I should add, it'll be shown live on Gol TV.

Pretty good game going on here. Nice touch pass by Benzema right there.
Could've been a penalty called on that dribble from Ronaldo.
Al-Ittihad has definitely have had their chances. Probably more than Real Madrid.
