2011 another great year for college football

As a student at BYU, gotta say that this is not shocking. Dude is a bum and nobody wanted him at qb here. Not sure he's got a lot of good choices to transfer to. Cal may be best option, but I don't think he'll do well anywhere, kind of a head case.

Why you so mad, though? Terribly misinformed...

Rush the process and hire a white coach - you're crap. Rush the process and hire a black coach - you're awesome. Decide not to rush the process on hiring the black coach - you're back to being crap. I think I understand that. Heaven forbid the school take a step back and try to determine the best overall move for the program in the long run.

There have been several conflicting reports on whether Sumlin was the guy, even coming as early as Friday morning. There was one prominent decision maker that was heavily pushing Sumlin, and that was Mr. Wilson from the Board of Regents (the same guy that was instrumental in getting Sherman canned). It should also be noted that Wilson is really good friends with Sumlin and obviously has an agenda he's trying to push on other people. Wilson had a few of the big money donors in his corner, but for the most part everybody else at TAMU wasn't quite sold on Sumlin being the only obvious choice and wanted to explore other options. Billy Luicci from TexAgs was also heavily pushing Sumlin because they're friends from when Sumlin was the OC, and Luicci wants to be sure that he gets to keep his inside access to the program. Did you notice how when President Loftin announced that there would be a search committee led by Bill Byrne the process seemed to open up and include more candidates? That's the majority of the decision makers getting what they want and not letting the minority influence the entire decision (see: Mike Sherman, 2007).

Now the game Saturday certainly didn't help Sumlin's case, but it's not the main reason he's not being announced as the next head man at TAMU like you seem to think. Had he won that game he probably would have won over some of those influential decision makers, but again, losing that game isn't the only reason he's not in a maroon blazer right now. You probably would have still seen some resistance from some of the decision makers against rushing into hiring Sumlin.

I'm honestly not 100% sold on any of what seem to be the four candidates right now (Smart, Sumlin, Strong, Fedora), and I wouldn't be surprised if either of those four are named the head man sometime this week.

Edit: Some people with contacts in the administration are saying that there were a few decision makers that came away from the Houston/USM game swayed in Sumlin's favor, despite the outcome of the game. But pressure from big money donors and fans to actually form a search committee and interview candidates pushed those decision makers away from quickly choosing Sumlin.

Heaps is a bum and nobody wanted him there? Lol ya right

Sweater vest was seen on the UCLA campus and rumor is had a interview with the AD and big time booster last night

I'm telling you, I havent heard one good thing about Heaps since the Ole Miss game. Frankly, BYU football is pretty much a joke these days, the fan base is inflated with gaudy expectations and thinks they field a top 15 team every year. Been talking to my cousin who knows many football players and they all said he's a douche. They like Nelson better at qb and think that Heaps was a prima donna.

how do you feel about that mike?

Heaps fell off!!!

Good Lord!

Mad about Texas A&M? Never. Call it like I see it. Theyre crap. Tthey would be the same crap if fedora was scheduled to get the Jon Sunday but lost ONE game and they decided to go another direction off that one game.

They are crap, Barnhart and Brando both said that Loss was the reason.
Said the hire was set to announce on Sunday.

O yo add, The same crap who fired their current coach via social media...

But I'm wrong for calling them crap

Alabama runningback Trent Richardson and LSU defensive back Morris Claiborne headline the 2011 AFCA FBS Coaches’ All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.

Richardson is fifth in the nation in rushing yards per game, averaging 131.92, and has scored 23 touchdowns this season, ranking him fifth in scoring at 11.5 points per game. Richardson is a finalist for the Maxwell Award and the Doak Walker Award. Claiborne has totaled 46 tackles, 28 of them solo, and six interceptions, which ranks him No. 9 nationally. He also has 12 passes defended and six pass break ups. Claiborne is a finalist for the Thorpe Award and the Bronco Nagurski Trophy.

Brando also said that Texas A&M was not going to get an invite to the SEC less than a week before we were announced as a new member, so...but yea, everything he says is 100% credible and based only on fact.

I have nothing to say about the handling of Sherman being fired, because that was incredibly stupid and very mishandled.

But it's obvious that you're not going to let actual facts influence your opinion, so I won't even waste my time.

really? I always heard that he wasn't going to get back into coaching for a while.
anyway it's Dan G. so I'm not expecting much

No u tried make it seem like it was about color of skin when its not. Never has been.

If Ppl let one game cloud their judgement of anyone with those guys bodies of work, they're idiots and have the wrong people making decisions.

Now I'm terribly misinformed but I was the one who Told you a&m fired sherman in a very low class manner.

Ok I'll be that .

I've already said that I felt the Sherman firing was handled terribly and spoke on that back on Thursday when Sherman was canned. You won't find anybody that will argue with that. Can you clear up for me how that has anything to do with being informed in regards to the Sumlin situation though?

Look at information from people that are actually connected to the TAMU program (like Brent Zwerneman) and don't have an agenda to push (Billy Luicci), and see what they're saying. Zwerneman said Friday night (keep in mind, Friday night is before Sumlin and Houston lost big on Saturday morning/afternoon) that he was hearing Charlie Strong might be the leader. That's pretty far from what you would expect to hear from someone connected to the program if Sumlin was already a done deal and ready to be announced that weekend like most people that aren't connected to the school seem to think (Brando, Barnhart). Luicci is obviously going to say that Sumlin was and is the only candidate because his business model thrives on having that inside access, and he knows he's going to for sure have that inside access to the program with Sumlin around. (Hell, Luicci is even actively selling Sumlin to all of the current commits in an effort to get them in Sumlin's corner.) Look at AggieYell and GigEm247. Neither of them were reporting that Sumlin was a for sure done deal. Unfortunately Luicci is the most well-known site owner of the bunch, and he seems to have led people that aren't connected to the search to believe that Sumlin was the for sure done deal coach, when in reality it never really was that way.

The "Sumlin isn't the coach at TAMU right now because he lost one ballgame" bull $!%% is just that. Bull $!%%.

Unfortunately, strength of schedule isn't the only factor.
cmon man alabama and lsu are the 2 best teams in the country. Bama lost to the only team better than them. in overtime. Ok St. lost to an unranked team. the only teams that LSU or Bama struggled against were each other. all season. i think they were 2 touchdowns better than every team they played.  argue that the bcs got the rest of the field wrong but #1 vs. #2 they got right.  That being said i probably wont be watching the natty this year. way more excited to watch Stanford vs OSU than the natty.
