2012 NY Jets Off-Season Thread ( 6-10) Goodbye Tebow ....

I'm still trying to figure out how and why Tebow is still on the team
And further, if they were planning on drafting a qb all along, why spend the little money they have on Gerrard? This team is beyond stupid and it truly is a damn circus. They make the Raiders look normal. Like the other guy said earlier, I'm done with this team. Been a fan since 97 and I've seen too much nonsense and I'm just sick of it. We need a WR, a TE, offensive linemen and we draft another bust D-linemen and an overrated QB to replace another overrated QB and the second coming of Jesus. I'm not one wish hatred on anyone but if Woody Johnson was to get prostate cancer, I wouldn't be crying over it....
Their reasoning for Geno Smith is that they didn't expect him to be available in the 2nd round, and since he was the best player left in the draft and fell to them "cheap" in the 2nd (and because he might be a better pro prospect than everyone coming out next year) then they HAD to get him.

But here's my thing...

WHY sign Garrard before the draft?   No one else wanted him.  You Could have waited.  He's not even going to see the field before week 8 (unless Sanchez gets hurt and the circus starts again with them passing over Tebow and Smith.)  Let's be real.

WHY didn't you trade up one spot and draft Tavon???  Why not take a receiver or a TE instead of DT?  Was DT REALLY a need?

Why not try to get a receiver AFTER drafting Geno?  You got him an average Guard.  Great.  Now he's going to have all day to survey the field and see he has no one to throw it to.

ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Let's say Geno wasn't available. Would u still be upset we signed Gerard?

Gerard is an aging vet. Sanchez I think would still be a better option. Drafting Geno is saying, Rex has one foot out and Mark isn't far behind. You would think he could rest easier after the Tebow fiasco, this doesn't help. And Tebow is STILL on the roster. They're taking too long on that.

This is the thing. They aren't just gonna throw geno in there like they did with Mark and give him the keys from day one. Imo
Hell sit a few games. They cut mark? Fine. Until training camp comes around we won't know what we truly have to play this season. We don't know who well sign or what else well Draft. OT WR G? Its not over yet.
The only thing im still iffy is 2 defensive players on the first round. We kinda had to but I woulda liked a WR at least. But it is what it is.

Ps im 99% positive everybody in here KNOWS we aren't winning a super bowl this season. So I don't see what's so bad about having for example Gerard start this season. Its super bowl or tank for Draft picks, there's no in between. Put it this way. We're putting ourselves in a position to succeed in the future not right away.
Refresh D-line
Hopefully refresh Dbacks
Rebuilding/patching our o-line
Restart at qb.

at this point, it's not about winning the SB, it's about re-building what's missing. If you aren't giving Sanchez, or any QB the tools to be great, what message are you conveying? I know Rex is a defensive coach but sheesh, we need a productive offense asap, the rules cater to an explosive offense now. Why not take advantage of that?

It takes time. I don't think you guys had a bad draft--Geno would seem like a steal f the existing roster situation wasn't SO bad. If they're smart they cut Sanchez, do their best(badly) with Gerard for a year while letting Geno sit an learn. Next year you take some skill position guys in the draft or free agency.

I mean you're coming from one of the absolute worst rosters in the NFL, so things aren't going to change overnight.

Edit: Also Rex is getting fired.

Didn't like the Geno draft pick, but in the end this is all we can truly say.... just like after every draft....

"only time will tell".

I would've hoped they waited until the 2014 draft to draft a QB, and let Sanchez work in a true West Coast offense but what are you going to do now...

I'll tell you what though. Sanchez isn't the long term answer. However if he's going to get cut like some sources are saying... it's part of the Jets organization's fault that he didn't mature like everyone hoped he would. If anything, they definitely had a hand on him regressing.

Can't believe the responses in here.

You drafted a QB because you don't have one.

-Sanchez is done. Mentally he's weak and the city hates him. He has very few fans on his side. Jets are trying to cut him but don't want to look like complete idiots by letting go someone they owe this much.

-Tebow, shouldn't make the roster but MIGHT just because of his name and they hope something happens and he can sell seats and merchandise.

-Gerrard was a good pickup. He can play when healthy and was a cheap pickup.

-Smith has a lot of potential, don't think he's great but he can change the game and do much more for that offense than Sanchez. Now if Gerrard can stay healthy for one season and do his job whle Geno sits and learns, the Jets are in good shape with this kid.

-Ivory did a good job in NO and is a great pickup. I haven't seen a good RB on the Jets in years. Greene was below average. McKnight :x

^ That's the reason why I stopped buying jerseys, dudes always get traded/released or hurt.

That's why you buy star players or players you really like. Sanchez wasn't the answer and wasn't going to stay the starter for long. Bad purchase by my man OneWearz, can't go wrong with a Revis even though he's gone. He was the best Jet I've seen since Curtis Martin.

McKnight as a 3rd down back ain't a bad option. Guy can even lineup at wideout and produce.

Guy just have mental lapses.

Lesson I learned the hard way

I wonder if they plan on giving whoever the QB some help. I don't believe Garrard is going to be healthy

I didn't watch Smith this year but I heard his 2 half of the year was ehh

They need to draft a TE or a WR.

The plus sides about drafting Geno is that he will come much cheaper than he would have in the 1st round, and this means they appear to be done babying Sanchez and are preparing to move on.

The Jets have no idea what the hell they want to do at QB. I'm not a Jets fan, but on the outside looking in, you guys deserve a much more reasonable approach to drafting players, managing the salary cap, and finding positional needs instead of what the "best athlete on the board" is....

Okay in retrospect. We should all drafted a WR with that 13th pick. :smh:
Not a single wr drafted in the whole draft for us.
We drafted o-linemen OT DB DT QB. But not a damn WR. :smh:
For the love of god they better make a decent pick up during training camp.

^ After Austin, I don't think they had any WR rated in the 1st round IMO. Idzik just drafted BPA on their board.

What the rams gave up. It would of been stupid of the Jets to even try to come up with a package even close to the Rams.

They should of drafting one in the 2nd. They must be planning to bring back Braylon
