2014 NBA Draft Thread

Man I don't think it's fair to label guys that couldn't stay healthy—like Bowie and Oden—as busts. Yeah I get where they were drafted and who came after constitutes regret, but those aren't bust situations, that's just bad luck. A bust is drafting Joe Alexander 8th overall.

it is what it is, you can construe it as malicious or wrong or whatever but it is what it is. one way or another, a bust is a guy who didn't live up to expectations, period end of.....

there's no pardons.

How about Len Bias is he a a bust?

Reggie Lewis? Bust or no?

How about Jay Williams.

whens the last time you heard someone say Jay was a bust?

Jay was a bust though man c'mon. 2nd overall pick, MONSTER talent, I mean he was the complete package PG......

IDK who DOESN'T consider him a bust. Nobody told him to go ride motorcycles w/o a helmet.

Jay was a bust of EPIC proportions dude, EPIC.

How is a player a bust when they didn't even play?

Jay Will crashed a motorcycle. It's not like averaged 5, 4 and 2 a game for like 10 seasons.

Same with Oden.

Whatever. useless discussion. it is what it is.

Yeah figured between that and the triangle disaster that he didn't get a fair shake. Loved watching dude at Cuse though. That triple OT game against UCONN :hat

:lol

so its about fault now? "nobody told him to go ride motorcycle without a helemt" iof he wore a helmet is he still a bust?

because someone told Sam Bowie to break his foot, or Greg to mess up his knees.

Well in his particular case, yes it's about fault.

In Bowie's case or Greg's case, naw, no fault whatsoever. But still a bust. In Jay's case it's just that I don't feel sorry for him. Nothing to do with methodology. All three are busts.

Ehhhh i'll give Flynn the bust stamp. I think it was inevitable.

He's playing in Europe, which means he can clearly still play basketball despite injury no?

okay so what you are saying is that you are using a completely inconsistent arbitrary standard?

its fault for one injury but not for another.

Okay buddy,

I'm not intrested in propegating some horse **** name calling, "bust" narrative.

for me its about identifying mistakes in the playoff evaluation process.

Yep, he is a bust. Flynn KNEW about his pre-existing knee condition. He didn't divulge the info to David Kahn or for that matter, ANY GM.

Dude is a bust and a con.

It's not inconsistent at all, if you didn't live up to your draft position/potential be it because of injury or because of ineptitude you're a bust.

What is so difficult to understand? How is that inconsistency on my part?

Swear dude you love to argue but you don't like to understand the other party's argument. It's a theme with you.

I asked you if Jay wore a helmet, would he still be a bust, so its about fault.

you said yes.

but concerning other career debilitating injuries you don't think fault matters. thus inconsistent.

Fault doesn't matter, at all. It's just that in Jay's case he's at fault.

It doesn't change the outcome though. Be it a freak torn ACL or a bonehead motorcycle accident if it ended/shortened/compromised your career and you weren't productive you're a bust.

You're confusing me making more commentary on the nature of Jay's accident, with my methodology when considering who is and isn't a bust. Stop mincing my words.

Jay ****** up and I pointed it out, deal with it. If he had torn his ACL i'd still call him a bust if he wasn't able to play.

Happy? Man with you....

In theory, I could see the argument for the Oden types to be label busts, but I just view them as unfortunate what if scenarios.

Terrence Williams, bust?

look what ever bro like i said

for me its about identifying mistakes in the playoff evaluation process, act of god is not a mistake. not a bust.

interested in nuance not name calling.

It's unfortunate for all of those who suffered injury. I feel for Bowie and Oden, immense talents.

Still busts though.

WIlliams isn't a bust, 11th overall, wasn't like was being as highly touted as Blake. The expectations were never that high for him to really label him a bust.
