Duncan
Manu
Parker
West
Green
Diaw
Mills

All make less than market. Not even counting convincing RJ to opt out.

:lol :lol just 2 starters.

Green, Diaw and Mills got paid AFTER they got with Pop. Some of these dudes weren't even in the NBA. Taking a pay cut is in the Spurs model. It doesn't take away from Pop's coaching if players decide to take pay cuts. The ones who don't, end up being exposed once they leave the Spurs.

Aaron Baynes just got paid $6.5 mil to be a backup center in Detroit after playing in Slovenia the year before he joined the Spurs. Gary Neal got a nice deal two years ago with Milwaukee. He just got waived by the Wizards. The list goes on.

Where were you when Pop signed Diaw...who was just released by his team. When Danny Green was playing in the D-league. When Aaron Baynes was playing in Slovenia. When Patty Mills was playing for the Idaho Stampede, Melbourne Tigers and Xianing Flying Tigers. When Gary Neal was playing in Europe etc etc. Pop finds these guys outta nowhere...signs them to a $500k contract. They end up being very important parts of the rotation and winning. Then they hit FA now with a much higher market value, than before they got with Pop.

Dudes disrespecting Pop coaching now? Those same players you see wouldn't even be in the league anymore or getting those deals if it wasn't for him and that Spurs system

Aight man :lol

I love when people comment on coaching as if they see/know of anything other than what happens in games. Which is less than 10% of what a coach actually does

Does Phil have a Gary Neal, Danny Green guy?

A player that he coached up to a key NBA rotational player?

I'm sure he does I'm drawing blanks.

Diaw got $9 million from Phoenix long before he got money from San Antonio.

Diaw also got cut by Charlotte. Y'all forget, Diaw was on his way out the league before signing in SA :lol

He was cut cuz he was playin for a joke of an org. One that turned down 5 draft picks for Frank Kaminsky. C'mon man. :lol

Diaw was great in Phoenix, same as SA.

Nope.

Pop has:

Danny Green
Patty Mills
Gary Neal
Aaron Baynes

Just off the top of my head. Johnathan Simmons likely up next too :lol.

Trevor Ariza? Derek Fisher? The crazy Bull not named Rodman, Dele? (I think)

Kwame played his best ball under Phil.
Shannon Brown. Jud Buechler.

If you're gonna name Baynes, Neal, Mills, these guys belong.

Helped Ron Harper reignite his career.

Put Steve Kerr in positions to be a great shooter (which he already was) on a big stage

Or are we talking about YOUNG players?

If not, I can't think of any since most of the Bulls rotation players were established dudes

Fisher and Ariza yes.

But I thought we were just talking about Bulls Phil?

Jud Buechler never really was a rotation player for CHI

:lol at listing Kwame with those guys. You're trolling right now.

The guys I listed were literally D-league dudes that became big parts of the Spurs rotation on a Championship team.

Kwame Brown under Phil.....:lol. Yeah. Not comparable.

Ok, so remove him. The OG post said key rotational guys. Kwame's best tenure was under Phil, but true, no chips. Remove him. All other guys came up under Phil.

Farmar/Sasha. Won titles, fell off the minute Phil left.

Yea, in the Lakers system, there were more younger players that came up through that system that ended up becoming contributors to the championships.

The Bulls, not so much.

But you dudes have to remember there are coaching STAFFS that exist as well. Stop giving all credit to these head coaches please

Ariza is probably one.

Fisher was a 1st round pick and I believe was a rotational player under Del Harris.

Ron Harper was a 20 PPG scorer with the Clippers before he joined the Bulls.

And Ron Harper was also a player that had a horrific knee injury that took away his athleticism and scoring ability.

So again, under Phil, Ron Harper's career was reinvigorated. That can't be denied

Anyway you look at it, it is HARD to win championships. Everything has to go right for your team, no matter how many great players you have.

You can't discredit a coach's leadership and ability because he had world class talent. And you can't say, "If anybody had it they would look good." No man, you can't do that.
