2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

If the impossible does happen and the Celtics do get Durant I think Ainge unloads all the draft picks , Sully, Olynk, Smart for Cousins
go big or go home

In reality KD is gonna sign for 1 year in OKC and decide next season , that deep playoff run sealed the deal

JC to GS isn't bad. Cheap replacement for HB.

Jamal isn't coming cheap for one

and they aren't replacing Barnes.

Barnes contract is going to look out of control compared to JC's

*edit

Yea 4/95

Warriors are not matching that bro :lol

Like I said. JC isn't bad. Will be a cheap replacement for Barnes.

*edit

Ok so I was wrong. Sounds like if KD decides not to come to GS, that they will just match Barnes's contract

Wow :lol

The more I see this Conley contract, the more I see Durant signing a one year with an opt out. And then Durant really gets paid next year. NO WAY can a player who has never been an all star, (has he even been in any all star Saturday night events?) in MVP talks at the very least, or made an NBA finals be paid more that the" faces" of the NBA. If Durant had designs on leaving OKC, that Conley contract changed the entire dynamic. Taking these meetings he is just wasting these other teams time.

Didn't a source close to Durant say there was a 90% chance he'd stay in OKC? That teams should just use their meetings to focus on laying the groundwork for next offseason?

I wonder how much of that really happened in all these meetings.

Magically?

They still have CP3, JJ, Blake and Deandre, right? Did I miss something?

The only team in the West to not make the WCF? They will have less depth next year, so its not looking too bright for them next season. I guess people are expecting Jordan to become Hakeem.

They have those 4 players + Pierce, Rivers, Dawson and Wilcox. Good luck filling out the rest of that roster
The clippers have the same amount of wins in the conference finals as the Grizzlies do, though.

Blake could miss another full year half a year two years and is still a top 3 PF behind Davis and DRAYMOND

Horford’s father, Tito, said in a telephone interview Saturday night that his son had narrowed his choices down to the Hawks and the Celtics. As the family discussed the options, the conversation often returned to the uncommon passion of Boston’s fans.

In Atlanta, support at home games was sometimes tepid, despite the fact that the Hawks had gone 108-56 over the last two years.

“There wasn’t as much motivation for him when he saw all the empty seats when they were winning,” Tito Horford said. “He said to me, ‘Dad, when we were playing Boston, they were down 15 points and they were cheering their team like they were winning the game. They’re so into the game.’ This is special for us, especially for him.”

I love Al, and appreciate him for all he's done. The team was a laughingstock after Nique and later Smitty & Deke and he played a role in turning them around. He even developed a solid 3 ball. I'll miss him.

But Atlanta needed better rebounding and rim protection at the 5, and Sap is a better scorer, rebounder, and defender at the 4. I hate it. Wish him the best.

Only way Celtics sign KD is if the tell him they can give him back 6weeks of real time and a 2016 Game 7 Victory vs. GSW

This is a good break down for dudes like me that are :eek @ these deals

http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2016/6/30/12056030/nba-salary-cap-2016-details-free-agents-ridiculous

"It's thanks to a nine-year, $24-billion television deal signed by the NBA in 2014, which will cause the salary cap to rise higher than it ever has -- in money, yes, but also in sheer year-to-year growth. Last year's $70 million salary cap is expected to rise to at least $94 million; the $24 million increase is biggest leap the league has ever seen."

"Kawhi Leonard's lucrative five-year, $95-million deal signed last season would have been worth $127.3 million this"

"OK, yes, we'll all make jokes about DeMar DeRozan when he signs a $152-million deal in Toronto while Stephen Curry makes just $11.3 million for the Warriors next year. But the contracts aren't comparable, since they come from completely different salary cap landscapes."
