2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

'Fans' complain for years about how selfish the players are. Just get max money and don't let the team 'improve'

'Fans' complain when players take less money to be on better teams and try to win

Peeps can't keep it straight what they want :lol

Guess the only way a player gets a pass is they stay with their drafted team their entire career but within that team take less money so the team can improve? Doesn't make a ton of sense but whatever :lol
Players like Tim Duncan are beloved by their team for doing just that.

you don't understand? Thats the problem.

So you see, salaries going up must mean the money is coming from some where, right? How does money get made in entertainment? Consumers are paying for it. So ticket prices go up, cable bills go up, stuff like that.

We;re all the fools, if you really want to look at it. Unless you never go to a game, or pay for cable, than you're not contributing.

I think its safe to say we all watch ESPN/TNT in here, so our subscriber fees are going up. How else are they going to pay the NBA that $24B?
people value entertainment about all else. it is what it is.

so you're mad?

Not at all. I'm willing to pay for the entertainment, and can afford to.

But way to infer I'm mad by what i posted.

Just responded to a funny comment about being happy for young men making millions, when in reality, we;re the ones making them rich.

I mean almost everything you pay for is contributing to someone's wealth, I'm happy the players getting so much money, funny no one cares about all the money the owners are making.

Normally I hate memes like this... but i did find this one interesting.

I have to admit, it's hard to hate the Warriors. They literally got it out the mud. They drafted each one of their superstars and acquired KD fair and square. You don't have to love them but you have to respect how they've build their team....
Can't knock the front office for what they have/are doing.  That's what they're supposed to do.  This is what Arenas is talking about in that IG post.  You have an organization willing to spend the money and make the team better.  You can't knock that.  I think people's hate is coming from a couple things:  KD leaving his team for a team that he lost to and plain jealousy lol.   I'm from the Bay Area and it's funny to me that I hear nothing but "YEA!!! We got KD!!!" "We are coming for you Bron!" etc etc....but these were the same people that knocked Lebron for joining a super team as well.  If you take away the tv disaster that LBJ did, it's pretty much the same move.  I'm speaking from a competitors standpoint.  LBJ and KD fulfilled their contracts and did what THEY WANTED TO DO.  You can't knock them for that...it's up to them.  I think people are just mad from a competition standpoint and well...jealousy.  Lol.  It's funny...when it doesn't benefit you, people get mad.  When it does...you turn the other cheek lol.

repped

To those that don't like the move to Golden State, would you feel the same outrage if he decided to go to San Antonio?

fans are hypocrites. plain and simple....
I didn't say it as a means to put KD down. I'm actually all for players going where they want and that's what he did.

It's just crazy that people are trying to get mad at this guy for improving his working situation.

But the rules of life don't apply to sports.
same here. sorry i cant be mad at kd making a decision that makes him happy. f pleasing anyone else. please yourself. no matter the decision you make , some people are going to hate it.

Of course. Its the world we live in. I'm not disagreeing.

I bet you're absolutely thrilled with paying those taxes every month and seeing a third of your check disappear, right? I bet you say damn, "I'm happy to see my state take so much money from us all, and not use it wisely." Very extreme comparison, for sure.

We know its happening. To say we're happy just seemed weird to me.

agreed... why would i be happy a stranger is making lots of money. that very weird. its irrelevant and doesnt make me happy or sad one bit.

As a straight fan of the NBA, it just doesn't gel with me. OKC could have made another attempt, they were one win away from making the Finals. Going to the team that you couldn't beat, that set the record, that will be the odds on favorite this year again.. going to THAT team? Ehh, it's just weird, man. I don't think he owes OKC anything. Between management, injuries, running into better teams, it just didn't happen for KD in OKC. He gave them great years, sometimes that's all you can do and move on. I'm not an OKC fan or even a KD fan like that.. so I'm not scorned and hurt like a lot of people. I understand the disappointment, and I was one of those who truly did think KD and Russ could win together.. but it wouldn't be pretty or be easy. But people have said it for years, but they just weren't the right fit together. Chaotic and entertaining at times.. and we had glimpses and flashes of brilliant team play, but there was always that issue.

This is where I'm at. I thought he had to run it back one more year after the way things ended but I suppose he thought it was now or never in regards to going to GS.

..
On another note, I'm not about to say KD is doing things a 'cheap' way because we haven't seen anything done yet. If he's standing around the perimeter letting Steph run the show, it's an issue - for a guy who is supposed to one of the best ever and who was supposed to take the torch from LeBron. That's in play. It's also in play that he takes the reigns of this GS teams and fulfills everything people want from him.

It's easy to tie LeBron into this as a comparison - but - if he wins in 2011 (not overall, but in the Finals specifically) with Wade carrying the load it would have felt a bit cheap. Who wanted to see him reaching a title as a defensive first player who chipped in here and there on O? It didn't happen and then the following year you had Bosh get hurt for the IND and BOS series and backs against the wall - you get some of LeBron's best ball ever and the rest is history that post-season and the following one.

So, who knows - it's easy to say KD won't 'earn' it or whatever. Steph getting hurt is always in play. Right now we think there is no competition - like anyone ever thought the Pacers would push Miami in the East for 2 years or Dallas could upend them. You just don't know. And any 'valuing' of what KD does has to be seen first. He could fall in line as just a piece to the puzzle or still be the 28PPG leader he has been. Remains to be seen. They will face adversity, every NBA team ever has faced it. We'll see.

that's the chick up there that's too dark?

:rollin :rollin

Lakersman mexican right? ya'll probably the same complexion

True, but it is such a small minority for that to be expected or the only way a player is lauded is just crazy to me
It is rare indeed. Plus being a HOFer and being that loyal to a franchise. Duncan deserves all the lauding he gets IMO.

Damn. She's light to me. What's the significance with her? She dated a baller?

Is that the classic man she's with?
