2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

people follow Gilbert Arenas on social media?

He's funny
Bingo

I'm gonna need a lot of people to stop compring sports to your 9 to 5 job. If I call a coworker a derogatory term for homosexuals, I'm losing my job. If I punch a coworker in the fave or choke my boss during a meeting, I'm getting fired and getting charged with assault. Are we just gonna pick and choose when we can compare it to our jobs?

Also, If I leave my company for our competitor, I am definitely not getting pats on the back from my marketing department/bosses. Maybe the homies in product development or design, but not these guys :lol

If you are a valuable enough employee these things are overlooked at 'regular' jobs as well :lol

depends on what you think is funny.

dude tries way too hard.

He does try hard. I just spent 10 minutes going through his posts and it got stupid quick. My head hurt trying to follow what he was typing too.

This isn't typical of how most athletes use social media, right?

Sports are funny man. I changed jobs last year and got nothing but pats on the back for going to a better company.

This happens and it's burn KD at the stake.

I was referring to the general consensus about me changing firms not what my former employer thought. Their opinion doesn't matter.

Whose opinion matters then? Your family/friends? Because I'm sure KD's family/friends are not burning KD at the stake over this decision :lol

I've just been seeing this comparison on fb/blogs a lot and it doesn't sit right with me at all :lol

How would yall feel if kd was instead a free agent last summer and signed with the 2015-16 dubs? Would that change everything[emoji]129300[/emoji]

Looking forward to the next episode of game of zones

yes for me shes really dark. what does that have to do with not caring bout other peoples finances.

He was specifically talking about young black men getting big money. Pretty sir he feels that way cause he's black too. Of course you're not gonna feel the same way :lol

After having a couple days to think about it and read all of the articles, thoughts, etc., this still just feels weird. Feel free to skip my long post.

As a straight fan of the NBA, it just doesn't gel with me. OKC could have made another attempt, they were one win away from making the Finals. Going to the team that you couldn't beat, that set the record, that will be the odds on favorite this year again.. going to THAT team? Ehh, it's just weird, man. I don't think he owes OKC anything. Between management, injuries, running into better teams, it just didn't happen for KD in OKC. He gave them great years, sometimes that's all you can do and move on. I'm not an OKC fan or even a KD fan like that.. so I'm not scorned and hurt like a lot of people. I understand the disappointment, and I was one of those who truly did think KD and Russ could win together.. but it wouldn't be pretty or be easy. But people have said it for years, but they just weren't the right fit together. Chaotic and entertaining at times.. and we had glimpses and flashes of brilliant team play, but there was always that issue.

This is how I been feeling about it.

If you don't like the move people wanna jump to "y'all hurt, y'all hurt". Nah the move just makes Durant look like a sucka. I've been supporting Durant for years. I've been rooting for the Thunder to make the finals ever since my Lakers fell off. But I gotta be honest about it. He's part of these reason why they blew that 3-1 lead to GS and now you jumping on their team? It looks funny.

^Yup exactly. If you were the most valuable employee at your job no one is going to hate you for moving to a better situation. If you were a crap employee and got a better job anyway, then I can see the hate :lol

Until teaching or any other 'normal' job becomes a multi-billion dollar industry athletes will always have a much higher salary.

ive read some other post that he dudes put on here. i dont do social media but lots of nters have put on different post from him before. hes said a lot of dumb ish , like bragging about fraud at the strip clubs etc etc. dude is a clown but on the post that was posted today he was spot on.

I don't understand?

you don't understand? Thats the problem.

So you see, salaries going up must mean the money is coming from some where, right? How does money get made in entertainment? Consumers are paying for it. So ticket prices go up, cable bills go up, stuff like that.

We;re all the fools, if you really want to look at it. Unless you never go to a game, or pay for cable, than you're not contributing.

I think its safe to say we all watch ESPN/TNT in here, so our subscriber fees are going up. How else are they going to pay the NBA that $24B?

so you're mad?

'Fans' complain for years about how selfish the players are. Just get max money and don't let the team 'improve'

'Fans' complain when players take less money to be on better teams and try to win

Peeps can't keep it straight what they want :lol

Guess the only way a player gets a pass is they stay with their drafted team their entire career but within that team take less money so the team can improve? Doesn't make a ton of sense but whatever :lol

I didn't say it as a means to put KD down. I'm actually all for players going where they want and that's what he did.

It's just crazy that people are trying to get mad at this guy for improving his working situation.

But the rules of life don't apply to sports.
