yeah. biggest contract in nba history

barnes didnt deserve almost a hundred mil

mozgov didnt deserve 60 mil. these nba contracts are just stupid right now.
I get salaries are going to be inflated, but we have just better than average guys getting MAX DEALS because they’re just the best available at this time.

This was gangster move by GS. Basically made KD bow down to them. They added a top 3-5 player and they eliminated their biggest threat in the West. Can't knock them but KD looks like a sucka.

Yeah i'm with it. Pisses me off dudes talking about what they don't deserve and paycuts when the owner just copped his 20th yacht. **** outta here.

It just hit me that we're pretty much guaranteed to get a reappearance of fat Boris Diaw. That man ain't gonna do **** but eat croissants and crullers out in wack *** Utah. Boris El-Amin by the end of next season.

You are right, teaming up with two other top 10 players because you can't get past the Celtics is way better.  Its not like one of those players he couldn't beat didn't join his team two years later.  If you have a problem with what KD and not what Lebron did twice then you are part of the problem.  These dudes are ruining the NBA.
its a stupid meme. warriors only have taken out the thunder once. acting like theyve been long time rivals or its been going on for years. agree both are cheap. really cheap. joining a bunch of the best players and joining a team that has the best players already . same ish. like i said people who had no problem with lebron after he did that but hate kd are just hypocrites. im getting off of this basketball loyalty tip. i dont even hate lebron for doing what he did. ive changed my mindset on that. players that are free agents should be able to play wherever they want and not have to answer for it.  doesnt mean i dont think its cheap which i already stated but it is what it is. i have no problem with players controlling they own destiny and having power.

gilbert arenas is 100 correct. fans are hypocrites,,,,,,

After having a couple days to think about it and read all of the articles, thoughts, etc., this still just feels weird. Feel free to skip my long post.

As a straight fan of the NBA, it just doesn't gel with me. OKC could have made another attempt, they were one win away from making the Finals. Going to the team that you couldn't beat, that set the record, that will be the odds on favorite this year again.. going to THAT team? Ehh, it's just weird, man. I don't think he owes OKC anything. Between management, injuries, running into better teams, it just didn't happen for KD in OKC. He gave them great years, sometimes that's all you can do and move on. I'm not an OKC fan or even a KD fan like that.. so I'm not scorned and hurt like a lot of people. I understand the disappointment, and I was one of those who truly did think KD and Russ could win together.. but it wouldn't be pretty or be easy. But people have said it for years, but they just weren't the right fit together. Chaotic and entertaining at times.. and we had glimpses and flashes of brilliant team play, but there was always that issue.

Now listen, from a pure basketball standpoint, GSW is exactly  what Durant wants. They share the ball, they're a true team, they don't worry about who and who isn't the leader, it's strength in numbers. Compare that to the "your turn, my turn" offense in OKC and of course  the Warriors are a better fit. And what's the point to move on to another team that's a worse fit.. or that would be in the same position as OKC? So that's why Boston didn't make a lot of sense. The only thing better is he has to beat Lebron one round earlier, but he still has to face him. So what other team gives him a better chance to win than GSW?

...

There's no right or wrong way to look at athletes in sports, I think. We want them to value winning above all else, but we yell collusion and call them ring chasers if they take less money for the good of the team. We call them selfish and me-first if they sign the biggest contract, because how much money do they really need? We want to say "F the owners" get your money, but what good is all that money if you're on a losing team. Stay with the team that drafted you your whole career, regardless of incompetent ownership or poor teammates. If you saw your company going south, if you knew the future was bleak.. would you stay at your job? If you were being recruited to another company, a far superior one with the perfect environment for you, would you not go?

We can play this game all day long and argue til our throats are sore and our fingers bleed.. there's a narrative for any story you want to tell. We know first hand that all the complaints and crying disappear a little bit when we see the team in action. A lot were up in arms over the Miami Big 3 and how they wouldn't even want to watch it, but they produced some beautiful basketball.. and so will this new GSW team. In this case, the beauty comes at the expense of another contender.. and it does cheapen the upcoming season a bit. Do you really want to see anything other than this GSW team vs the Cavs in the Finals next year? So from a neutral fan standpoint, I still have mixed feelings because damnit I really do want to watch that Finals matchup, but I also would have loved KD and Russy making one more run.

...

This is also a really... really interesting situation from an NBA standpoint. All of the factors that go into it and the perfect storm. Better writers have articles about all of it but OKC going from Ibaka, KD, Russ, Harden... to just Russ and the pick for Steven Adams. That's insane. Absolutely insane. Throw in the new CBA and the taxes that made OKC let go of Harden. Add in this absurd cap jump that allowed all of these contracts to happen. Add in that it's going to still be a story NEXT season with even more big time free agents. So from OKC a few years ago saving money and taxes to this cap jump and being left with just Russ is so bizarre. All of this money flying around, all of the potential, it's just damn entertaining.

To me, the most interesting part of this is that Durant went to the team that he couldn't beat. Regardless of them being a great fit, THAT I will never get over as a sports fan. I see why, I understand why, and hell.. I might do the same thing.. but that will forever be weird to me. It's not the same as Lebron and co. joining up, they made something new. This will always feel off to me and I admit it might not be fair but oh well.

This is the fans' fault. This is the media's fault. When we value championships above all else, this will be the result. Sports fans are so fickle, they want everything to fall just perfectly. Stay with your team, regardless of what happens, and maybe.. just maybe.. you'll have a Dirk-esque run to the Finals. When you've got chumps like Barkley on TV about championships, dummy fans who call legends trash for not winning a team, this is the inevitable result. It's not a bad thing, but it's just a thing. There's no right or wrong in sports. Magic and Larry, to steal a line from someone else, were born on third base. Michael was in the right spot at the right time. Kobe stayed with his team but was ready to leave and had his share of hard times. Lebron took his future into his own hands and then came back and finally won one for Cleveland. All of these stories affect their legacy and it's something we have to factor in when discussing and debating sports.

Durant is going this route.. and we'll see how it ends up. We'll all be watching and throwing out our opinions throughout it. I don't know what I'd like to see happen, other than Lebron winning one more against GSW and then joining Russy in New York, but I haven't started drinking yet today. This story is incredibly difficult to not attach a narrative too. It's not simply a player signing on a new team. This is an MVP in his prime joining the greatest team of all time who he failed to eliminate the previous season. Those are just the facts, the story writes itself.

Sports are funny man. I changed jobs last year and got nothing but pats on the back for going to a better company.

This happens and it's burn KD at the stake.

I'm gonna need a lot of people to stop compring sports to your 9 to 5 job. If I call a coworker a derogatory term for homosexuals, I'm losing my job. If I punch a coworker in the fave or choke my boss during a meeting, I'm getting fired and getting charged with assault. Are we just gonna pick and choose when we can compare it to our jobs?

Also, If I leave my company for our competitor, I am definitely not getting pats on the back from my marketing department/bosses. Maybe the homies in product development or design, but not these guys :lol

Man idk bout y'all but seeing young black men get paid M's is dope to me. I wish they got paid more tbh.
nah what they eat dont make me ish. i dont care bout other peoples money.

at the end of the day i think they overpaid but i dont care. except on mozgov cause lakers wasted all that cap space for trash,

Facts. No employer out here chasing you. You went to them and did your little jig and dance to get hired.

I was referring to the general consensus about me changing firms not what my former employer thought. Their opinion doesn't matter.

Didn't you also think Ros was too dark?

Repped...it's great to see some level headed logic lol.  People get too caught up in their feelings at times but this is the truth.

You're saying you don't care what other people's money but yet in your post you were talking about what money other people are making g lol

I get what your saying but it's cool man. I don't worry about other people pockets in a sense, but seeing these dudes get these crazy contracts is prett nice. They deserve it seeing as the owners are raking in so much more

we're supposed to be happy for young men making millions of dollars playing a sport when the regular population is the ones lining their pockets.

Seems legit.
