2016 Official NBA Off-Season Thread: Former Greatness

I mean almost everything you pay for is contributing to someone's wealth, I'm happy the players getting so much money, funny no one cares about all the money the owners are making.
Of course. Its the world we live in. I'm not disagreeing.

I bet you're absolutely thrilled with paying those taxes every month and seeing a third of your check disappear, right? I bet you say damn, "I'm happy to see my state take so much money from us all, and not use it wisely." Very extreme comparison, for sure.

We know its happening. To say we're happy just seemed weird to me.
When I see minority youth (many who grew up underprivileged) able to cash out their God given natural ability on the free market system we have in this country...

Tools & abilities that aren't just increasingly high in demand within their bubble...but in ours as well since live entertainment remains recession-proof and king on TV...

Earning millions which many use to finally retire their mom from the workforce, and cop her that big ol' house they've always promised...or whatever else they choose to spend on...

I see them blessed with financial success...

...and I'm not thinking about the ******* cable bill going up $2.42 each month. I'm genuinely happy they're getting compensated really well to live out their dreams. I'm glad that as long as they manage their finances correctly, they won't ever have to go through those same struggles. I don't know, maybe I'm just weird though.

NBA has been a dynasty driven league for decades. I don't mind that because greatness at that level is awesome to watch. Who the champion is year after year doesn't bother me as much as the predictability of knowing that only two teams realistically have a chance. That there isn't at least two or three teams that, if focused, could take down the favorite at the top.

I just want drama and a touch of doubt as to who will win a series. Might as well fast forward to next June.

Lebron
Curry
KD
Kawhi
LMA
CP3
Kyrie
Blake
Draymond
Klay

You guys can put those 10 guys where ever you want in the top 10 or 20. I'm not even trying to get into that debate again :lol . The point is that all that talent is on 4 NBA teams. And I left Kevin Love off the list who many ranked in the top 20 until he start getting exposed in the playoffs.

Other guys in that top 20 IMO

Russell Westbrook
Paul George
Demarcus Cousins
Anthony Davis
James Harden
Marc Gasol
Jimmy Butler

And this is not saying all are outside of hte top 10 or whatever. Just a general opinion on these guys being ranked in the top 20 :lol

I see Royce though. Getting his name out there even more. Skip didn't get $6.5m per because of his knowledge. Same with SAS.

They are provocative. Gets the people going

Past few years it feels a lot more "top-heavy" than years prior to that IMO. Even though top-heavy isn't anything we haven't seen before. History of the league will tell you that...

I'm not ready to say watered down though. That's different.

Agreed 100%

I cringe whenever someone says the league is watered down.
two team league next year. There is no parity. Talented aint watered down. Just most of the best players on the same squads.
True but may not be a 2 team league. But ultimately, it doesn't matter if they say it now, yesteryear or next year. It's always been this way. Top heavy.

You don't care about that cable bill so who cares about everyone else who pays it and doesn't even tune into fox sports Midwest to watch the Mavericks. BUT, as long as millionaires keep on stacking because they are a minority, I'm cool with it.

It's such backwards thinking. I'm baffled

I like the fact that a sports pundit is this much of a fan of a team and you can tell that he's hurt. Royce Young is legit distraught.

Kyrie top 10 now? That Memphis loud gotta be good as ****

Shows how stupid you are.

Never said Kyrie was top 10. Try again B

Clearly, I listed guys I considered to be in the top 20. You don't know if I had Kyrie in my top 10 or not. I just simply said, 70-80% of the guys on those teams could be in the top 10.

Was Kyrie considered top 20 before the finals? Couple weeks back, he was barely top 5 PG

He was ranked in the top 20 on ESPN Rank. :lol

You really don't know hoop if you think Kyrie is better than CP or think Chris Paul isn't a top 10 player in the league.
Ehhh why isn't Myrie better than Chris Paul?
Because CP is a better defender, rebounder, passer, etc., etc.

Nope. That's why I rank players like I do soccer players. Whoever is in form at that period of time is where I rank em. Before the finals Kyrie wasn't even top 5, now he's arguably top 3. Did he suddenly become that much better in 7 games? Nah, but we live in the moment as humans and he's at the moment top 3 IMO.
