Don't give a rip about the CFL and have no idea about their situation, but in regards to the NFL, referee quality has dropped substantially and has coincided with the implementation of more and more replay. It's just about a joke to me at this point.

It's a combination of things.. speed of the game and the quality of the cameras and the affordability of better and bigger TVs
But refs in a lot of sports have been crap.. nfl is no exception.. but they could take some lessons from college football or even embrace technology used in soccer or tennis for scoring plays

This NFL cannot convince me with their billions that couldn’t find a way to hire some people to develope some form of goaline tech to see if the ball broke plane and if it did the ref gets a notification on his wrist. Just like they have goal line tech in soccer to see if the ball fully crossed the line.
