Nobody has even mentioned how the moves well effect them defensively.

The Lakers defensive success was due primarily to scheme, not having elite individual defenders. The Lakers maintained the #1 defense regardless of who they had on the floor.
 
Is the general consensus that the Lakers got better? Seems to be more of a lateral move talent wise

Honestly, it all comes down to health. Most might not agree but I believe the 2021 Lakers roster was better than the 2020 team that won the championship. The difference is that LeBron and AD were healthy for basically the entire 19-20 season. Because of the injuries the Lakers obviously lost more games but they never built up chemistry with one another.

If LeBron, AD and Westbrook had good health this season I think they'll be better than the 2020 team that won the championship.
 
If it’s lateral then they’re sitting good. Lebron and Davis getting hurt killed them but when they were healthy things were on track

Which west playoff teams did anything significant

Yeah, the other West playoff teams have been really quiet. Mostly just keeping guys they already had, so far.

Did Conley re-sign with the Jazz?
