Dray gives you way more than these other guys ever did. He has a mush mouth which is a huge advantage, he ran KD off even though KD didn't have Alpha Dog, he is the greatest trash talker for a role player we've ever seen. #DRAYDAY

How did we just get James Worthy and Kevin McHale named as role players  :smh:

What do you consider them? Mchale started half his possible games... he wasn’t a full time starter until his 7th season... at 28 years old. Worthy was a full-time starter so that’s a different argument.

Ya’ll just like talking to talk. Someone prove me otherwise about McHale.

Thank you. Imagine a Finals MVP being a role player.

🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️

If we're calling Draymond Green (multiple time all-star, multiple time all NBA and DPOY winner, third best player on a title team and a 73 win team) a role player then how is James Worthy not also a role player?

Was Dennis Rodman recognized as the fifty greatest players way back in the 90s when they first did it?

Nevermind. Just looked up the ceremony from the ASG. He’s definitely the greatest role player ever. Dray in the lineup used to be a triple double danger. And could easily go off scoring.

They are both 7x all-stars. Both probably in the top 60 or so players of all time.

Prime McHale was 25 and 9 in the playoffs on a championship team. 2nd only on that team to Bird who was at 26 and 9. Actually led the team in scoring in the finals that year.

What other role players are doing that? Or do you just like to talk to talk?

In their primes when they were winning championships....Manu Ginobili, Kevin McHale, James Worthy, Draymond Green, Dennis Rodman, and Bobby Jones were Never considered role players. It's not even an argument worth arguing because those who watched them play know they contributed much more to their teams than just a "role."

People forget, Worm was the "3" in the Bulls' Big Three Headed defensive monster.

All of the above ended up Hall of famers except for Dray, who will be one someday.

People forget the worm also helped the pistons win two....

Would we consider Gobert a role player despite him being a max player?
No, their entire team is built around him. On that side of the ball which impacts who they can put on the floor on offense. How can you be a role player when the team strategy revolves around your presence?

A role player is someone who slots into various needs in the gameplan. But the gameplan is not designed around them.

Kevin McHale and James Worthy role players

Some people regard McHale as one of the greatest post players in NBA history.

When I think of role players, I think of people like Horry, Steve Kerr, Danny Green, etc

I think you're overthinking it brah

But to your point, this is what happens when you force a "3rd place"
Nah… there’s several events where the bronze medal winner had to beat the rest of field sometimes by microseconds

In basketball both silver and bronze have 1L .. ending on a W as opposed to an L does something to you, even if it’s for 3rd place

Right, I'm saying they're basically forcing a 3rd place in bball. If the NBA did this, it would be kinda ridiculous

If they didn't have a Bronze then the scenario you have in question wouldn't exist
