Well, I wasn't arguing anything.
I stated that the Jets could have made a killing for 2. Darnold still cheap for 2021. No more Gase.
Now, they're going to draft another Darnold.
I actually never said anything about the real value of the deal, just some mid round picks. (The 2 is nice at least, 4-6 does nothin for me)
Now that everyone is excited about such a great haul for him, I'm wondering if it was him or Wentz that someone was claiming could net firsts. I honestly don't remember. But I had a hard time finding QB's traded for firsts.
I mean it’s not all that common because teams don’t want to move good QBs because they are the most valuable position on the field but off the top of my head the following were traded for firsts:
stafford
Wentz
Palmer
Cutler
Bradford I think was a first
bledsoe
Think Alex smith got traded for two seconds
Montana
Favre
im sure there is plenty more and that doesn’t include draft day trade ups for QBs, but getting a second, fourth, and sixth out of one of the leagues worst QBs is pretty good value
No idea. Nor was it my question. I said that it wasn't a thing based on market. (At least, to the point of that convo, Stafford actually would be a fresh example)
If Watson wasn't horny he'd go for for 3+ firsts.
Wait.......Joe and Brett didn't get traded for firsts????
Cutler/Bledsoe/Palmer? I need to look those deals up.
Bradford was the injury trade, right? Someone got hurt and they traded for Bradford right after?
It's not a thing because a player worthy of that kind of return doesn't become available. If Watson wasn't horny he'd go for for 3+ firsts.
If/when Seattle makes Russ available he'll go for multiple firsts. Same for GB & Rodgers.
What about draft trades where the trade is clearly for a QB? Washington for RGIII. Eagles for Wentz. SF a couple weeks ago for whomever.
You kinda gettin to where I was going.
Draft, diff rules. Teams love "potential" and draft ****. Those deals are based on that potential.
Once the known QB is there, and chance to be moved, they aren't moved for firsts.
Favre wasn't. Joe wasn't. Peyton, Brady, Brees. Didn't happen.
Teams just rarely trade their QBs.. the better question is how many times teams have done it without some sort of plan in place
9ers obviously had Steve young when they traded Montana to the chiefs.. or the 9ers with Alex smith/kaep.. chiefs with patty/Alex smith
But Dolphins, jets and Jaguars have all gotten multiple 1sts for non QBs because teams are going be more willing to move a young good player that‘s not a QB
kinda helped that all 3 weren’t teams weren’t that good and needed more
SMH .... this question, fishing for validation is kind of stupid. Now that everyone is excited about such a great haul for him, I'm wondering if it was him or Wentz that someone was claiming could net firsts. I honestly don't remember. But I had a hard time finding QB's traded for firsts.
And Channing is a tap dancing fool.Love I AM ATHLETE, but Brandon is loud and wrong a lot and talks over people wayyyyy too much. Still fire tho
