it's either him or Oscar as the best offensive player of the 60's.
Was considered a good defender at the time,

and is one of the few players that really got better in the playoffs.

given Hardens playoff failure and bad defense,
I don't know how you put him above the logo.

Because it was the 60’s and I think Monte Ellis was better than Jerry West.

EYE have the receipts for the Luka vs Harden debates but EYE was on the wrong side so they're staying in the folder.

It all started in 2020
I’m sure I’m on the wrong side of this as well  but harden was better in 19/20 both regular season and playoffs.

and exactly how much of Jerry ****ing West have you seen?

enough to know.
you can look up the numbers, you can check Jerry West team performance.

there's more than enough info to extrapolate Jerry West relative to his competition.

This a fun vid tho, 4th quarter of the 1969 finals.

LA down a bunch Jerry West scores 15 points to bring em back, only to lose to Bill Russel again in his final season.

well that's dumb.

Monta Ellis in league with no carrying, no 3 point line, and a clogged paint would be terrible.

there's a reason all the best offensive perimeter players at that time were hyper accurate mid range shooters.

I honestly don’t think Jerry West could play D1 basketball today.

Was the defense better or were the players less offensively skilled?

and you would be wrong.

1. If you give Jerry West all the advantages of modern life he would be even better.
and if d1 players had to suit up in 1960s many of them would suck.

it goes both ways.

2. How do you explain Kareem's 1989 finals MVP?

40 year old, old washed up Kareem won the Finals MVP in 1989,
this is a league with Michael Jordan in it.

if the talent level in the 1960s and 70s was so much worse, how was Kareem able to do that?
if the 1960's guys couldn't make D1 rosters,

How come kareem,

a 1989 finals MVP didn't win the championship basically every year with the Bucks when he was in his physical prime?

Scott foster getting pulled is wild

Gotta keep him fresh for phx game 7

This clown is load managing in preparation to unleash maximum ****ery on Sunday

Scott Foster called out tonight so he could ref Chris Paul on Sunday. Dedication.

he needs to be available for mavs/sun game 7....

Jerry West was elite for his time. That's all you can go off when ranking all time.

No one says Mr Russell only dominated because he played against family men so we gotta give all these dudes their respective flowers.

"this whole all the older legends couldn't make D1 rosters."

how far back do we go without totally discounting the talent of great players?

because overlapping players makes it problematic.

Do the 80's legends count?
no?

How come old, post HIV, ground bound slow Power forward Magic
was so effective in 95?

What about 70's legends? No?
How come Kareem was able win the finals MVP in the 88 as a 39 year old?

60's legends?
How did old Bill Russell in a league with Kareem win the 1969 finals?

you have to just measure guys in there era.
stop trying to discredit them.

Jerry West doesn’t belong in the same conversation as Kareem.

Kareem was 7’2 with arguably the most unstoppable shot in NBA history he can play in todays NBA.

Jerry west would be a slow unathletic guard.

Y’all gotta stop putting Jerry West in the same conversation as folks like Wilt, Kareem and Russell. One of these are not like the others.

Dunking on Harden is good and fun but to put a man who wouldn’t be able to keep up with Payton Pritchard over James is too far.
