What's up Niketalk. Its been a good 5 year run for me. What started out as a hobby turned out to be almost an ambition for me buying shoes almost on a weekly basis at one point. Now, with a mortgage to pay and with priorities changing, its time to leave the game sort of speak. I'll still check in here once in a while and pick up those classic pairs I passed up or wasn't able to get back in the day, but its time to slow it down...I no longer have that same drive I once did I guess. Seeing some of the retro garbage, particularly those awful colorways, makes it much easier to let go now .
I've amassed more than 350 pairs of shoes in my collection, 90% or so still DS. I have about 30+ pairs in rotation right now, and several others that I've put away for good and will remain untouched until further notice . The rest will be sold over these next few weeks, perhaps months.
I'm a huge lakers fan. LA for life! Its easy to see who are my favorite basketball players - Kobe Bryant and Eddie Jones (see avatar), but I go back to to the Showtime era with Magic and them. That's where it all started. Much love for Shaq, Fisher, Van Exel, Fox, Horry, Gasol, Artest, Ariza and the rest of the lakers who have helped bring back the championships back here to LA. I've been fortunate to attend the last 2 parades and can't wait for the next one this year...just waiting for Howard to make it official soon . Anyways, that's another story. Maybe one day, I'll do a lakers collection post - that make take weeks to put together....yes, the obession is that bad .
Favorite Shoes? The Gloves (gary paytons) by far. The blk pair was the first pair that got me into shoes way back in high school. I loved balling in those. Wore those until the soles were gone and I was tearing up my socks because I kept playing in them . I was borned & raised in LA so naturally I love the Kobe’s, especially the Kobe 1's, 4's, and the Crazy 8's. As for Jordans, the Flint 13's, Space Jams and Cool Grey 11's, Indiglo 14's, Military and Cool Grey 4's, Pures and Cement 3's, Black and White and Playoff 13's, Bred 16's, Stealth 20's, and so forth. Then there's the Penny line (1's and 2's), Barkley's (CD34's, Air Force Max), and others as you will see.
For now, I'll leave it as is and put up the pics for you guys to check out. Thanks to all who have made this possible - there are several of you on here on niketalk that I have dealt with over the years - you know who you are. A special thanks to my best friend pac man (BIG PAC) and his brother for helping me arrange and rearrange all the boxes and helping me take pictures of all my shoes. Finally, a big thanks to my family (mother in particular) and my girlfriend for having the patience to put up with this obsession and letting me do what I do.
Much respect to all of you who have done this before, its not easy! Especially with this many shoes. It took a whole day to do, but in the end it was all worth it. Enjoy!
