If you had to pick one…. Meh/cliff-ish toe box shape, with decent nubuck, or aite/not too bad toe box shape, with garbage ashy suede?

This is madness. Whomever states there are perfect have never worn the OGs. Shape looks a bit better than the '16s, but these are FAR from sleek and the entire shoe is not slimmed down or much better. The did great with the 3s in terms of shape, padding, and toe box, but these 5s didn't get that attention.
I LOVE this shoe; had them in '90 and they were amazing. '16s were boot-like on foot and the toe box wasn't good (and I didn't even care about the tongue material). I sold them when I heard they were re-releasing as I barely wore them anyway, but hard pass on these. As much as I want them back in rotation, I'm not falling for this crap. I'll be patient, and if they never do them justice, I'll live without them.

You say this as if the last 2 years of 5's haven't had the cliff toe. That's what we're all talking about. This is still gonna be a believe it when I see it deal, because Jay's pair seems to have a bit of Twix factory action going on. Of course he wouldn't hold them still for more than half a second to compare, so I couldn't get a great look.

i personally had no issue with the shape on the AMM 5s. To be fair though im not nearly as concerend about shape as most people. as long as we're inching forward instead of backward on the quality of materials and getting closer to OG shpae and further away from CDP-2014 shape im not too picky. I also once you get passed size 11 that perfect slope folks look for across models pretty much disappears with the lengthening of the toe box area.
