Is there an ironing toe boxes tutorial somewhere?
I did all my 4s and the BC4 is the only one that toe boxs folded up like this pair. Pissed me off so badly.
I posted how I personally did it somewhere in this thread, probably back in October 2019.
But here's all you need to do. I've since done it on all my IV retros, including the fire reds. Zero wrinkles or divots on any of them.
They key is to make sure you stuff the hell out of the toe box with socks. Shoe trees are part of the process, but I'm convinced the reason people sometimes get the wrinkles is because they think they're supposed to use the tree itself as the only support within the toe box, and that's where the wrinkles come from. That's the mistake.
No shoe tree is going to fill up the toe box completely, or even close to it.
Take some socks and roll them up/fold them up in a way that the ENTIRE toe box is stuff from top to bottom. Jam them as far into the front as you can. THEN take a shoe tree and put that in BEHIND the socks to keep them mashed up tight and in place.
Spray distilled water over the toe box. Wet a good portion of a white tee shirt, fold it in half so it's double layered, and lay it over the toe box. Turn your iron to full steam. Roll the iron over the toes, from bottom to top (in the direction of the shoe's heel). If you stuff the toes properly, you can put a fair amount of weight/force into your ironing and still not wrinkle the toes. Keep the steam going consistently and don't go absolutely insane, and you'll have no problems. Work your way around the whole toe rand and go around each one three or four times. Repeat as needed to get the results you want.
This could NOT be any easier. I put it off for a long time, thinking I'd mess it up. Once I finally did it, I couldn't believe how easy and repeatable it is. And the results last, too.
