All-encompassing Cleveland Indians thread. 46 days until Opening Day.

I can't lie, Detroit has everything a playoff team has to win and we don't. We didn't have the sluggers we needed going up against a team like this. We got hurt all at the wrong time. It sucks, but next year will be fun entertaining team to watch and I'm looking forward to it already.

I enjoyed watching them play live against the A's in Oakland, the first place standing we held on too, the amazing plays by Asdrubal, the slugging by Santana, the Thome return, the Jimenez trade, my 0-7 streak at the park and everything else. We pretty much will have everyone here again next year (Sizemore is probably gone) so our chemistry will only get stronger come next April.

I hate to sound like a debbie-downer, but this series was a MUST-SWEEP for us - in every sense of the word. Unless we miraculously defeat them in the next 5 meetings we have and they go on some weird losing from now til our next match-up - it's wrap for us guys. It's been a fun ride. We definitely have the potential, a few moves to acquire some right-handed sluggers and next year is ours...

Straight up ends? Just Durbin's.

Sizemore has an option that will absolutely be declined. Carmona has one, too.

Then a ton of guys are arbitration eligible, of course. Masterson, Cabrera, Choo, both Perez', Sipp, Smith...

Everyone important should be here next season. I am even more sure of that now than I was at the beginning of the season, because of Sizemore. His option is for $9 million, and it went from must-exercise to must not exercise. So there's more money to spend.

Suspicions confirmed about Carrasco. Tommy John surgery next week. 12-18 month timetable.

Reading around, people seem to think Sizemore's option gets picked up. I just can't envision risking $9 million on one season for a player who has been healthy for like one season's worth of games over three years.

EDIT: Great start

Just finish .500

I'd be content with that at this point. Lot to build on from this year but god, this has been a rough 2nd half.

70-70

You can't get mad because no one even thought we'd be 70-70 let alone in a division race. I can get mad at going 0-6 against th leader and letting them walk all over us.

Future is bright IMO. End the season on a good note!

I never predicted a record because I totally believe in baseball superstition, but I expected a lot before the season started that went on to happen.
The bullpen might be really good.
I expect a huge leap in 2011. He's (Masterson) way too talented not to, and his second half of last year was a sign that it's coming, I think.
I fully expect the bullpen to be a strong point.

"Who should we be expecting to step up this season?"

Asdrubal, Brantley, Fausto and Masterson.

LaPorta obviously needs to, but I'm not counting on it. Same with Hafner.

About Opening Day: I hate moral victories, but that might do more for a young team like this early on than a simple win would have.
Continual LaPorta criticism, Santana support, etc.

Have a pretty good handle on these guys. I guess I had better, as much time as I spend...

The most surprising aspect of the season to me was absolutely making a blockbuster trade, not the 30-15 start.
