All-encompassing Cleveland Indians thread. 46 days until Opening Day.

A source within the Cleveland Indians organization has told The Lake County-Sentinel that the team has been in contact and is seriously making an effort to sign free-agent first baseman Prince Fielder.

Not.

Something better happen soon. Or I'm going to tag 'I <3 Albert Belle' on all the chairs in the 521 section of the ballpark on a late night sneak-in.

Cabrera, Carrera, Jose Lopez, Felix Pie, Jimenez and Carmona have all been playing winter ball.

Lopez has been hitting the ball really well. Better than Cabrera, even. Cabrera, Carrera and Pie have all been decent. Carmona has had two solid starts, while Jimenez had a pretty rough go in his only one.

Most impressive has been first base prospect, Jesus Aguilar. He had a breakout season with Lake County before being promoted late in the season. In 2011 (Lake County, Kinston and three different winter ball leagues), he has 35 home runs, 128 runs batted in and an OPS over .900 in 196 games. He could eventually be the right-handed power bat the Indians need, but he still has a ways to go.

The Opening Day countdown is into double digits.

Late?

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) -- A spokesman for police in the Dominican Republic says the Cleveland Indians pitcher known as Fausto Carmona has been arrested for using a false identity.

It is the second such case involving a major leaguer in four months.

Maximo Baez Aybar said Thursday that Carmona was arrested outside the U.S. consulate in Santo Domingo. Carmona had gone there to renew his visa so he could return to the United States.

Baez said Carmona's real name is apparently Roberto Hernandez Heredia and his age is 31, three years older than the pitcher claimed. The name of his lawyer was not yet known.

Last fall, police arrested Marlins pitcher Leo Nunez for using a false identity. He is actually Juan Oviedo and he remains on the Marlins' roster.
