Anyone on NT into writing movie scripts?

^that's why when one person makes a story it's always instant fail or legendary. it takes groups of people to get things flowing right with words in dialog, more minds more possibilities obviously. It's great working with people that you get so excited making the story as it goes while your writer stops the group "Ok after she says..." while your onto 5 lines ahead dying of laughter

Shows and Movies treat writing differently depending on the producers people involved. Martin Scorsese mails the person he wants in the movie a copy of the script, to read and edit as they please to their liking and he'll deeply value your opinion. along with it a personal handwritten letter to the person that he'll love you to be part of the movie and that he envisioned the character as you etc etc. While Curb Your Enthusiasm does almost opposite and random way. The writers have the actors sit together in a group reading and all they give them is a basic synopsis of the episode and the first scene setting "ok so we'll start the episode with Larry getting mad at the DMV with Susie" And right then and there with no script the actors start talking improv while the rest of the crew writes down what their saying and it's golden. It works obviously since the show is successful

I've wrote 3movies and a sitcom and about 4 shorts. I actually wrote the first draft to the Ice Cube film Lottery Ticket but got messed over in that deal. Smh anyways. I've always been into telling stories and characters. So it went a bit easy. Best way to start is to START. Read a book on screenwriting to get a bit of the basis down. I use Final Draft as my program of choice. But if u have an idea go for it. Just be prepared that its not easy. U literally have to BE each character u write about from the minor to major characters. But it's fun to do. Just research it then START.

Work on something unrelated to your main idea to play with till u feel ready to START. GOODLUCK

Im working on a script.. actually been working on it on and off for a while.. its a tedious process but worth it.... I went to school to study the art now I can transform my microsoft word project into a real piece of work... I have the stroy laid out and Im about 40 percent done on the actual script.. I just need about 2 months of writing time to finish it off... just had my 3rd baby in 5 years so I been swamped.. My major is screenwriting so I plan on doing this as work soon as I get my situation right... I have a 5 year plan

movie or TV show? One I thought which was my big idea was about a young guy playing Chess living in NY. I'm not from there but everything happens in NY
laugh.gif
. my major block was should his conflict be internal or external?. and that separates the genre of the film right then and there (psycho thriller to action/inspirational per say to both). had full scenes and sections played out but major conflicts in the movie are blank because does he lose his mind from day in and day out thinking about Chess? (this is a fact, the best Chess players in history end up getting disorders, mental illnesses and/or never are the same again because they can't separate the real world and Chess) or that his brother's recent thug life death force him to quit etc etc.

Use that law money and cop you a nice little camera too. You could make some indy/short movies with that, just need the exp and time.

I'm working on a new script.

It's a lighthearted romp about a very wealthy man who has at all...or so he thinks!

His world is flipped upside down when he's involved in a violent hang gliding accident.

Somehow he switches bodies with 3 legged cat and that's all I've got so far.

Have the cat be a funky street smart "urban" character.

And have the rich dude own a string of animal shelters that really serve as the source for cheap imitation fur accessories.

Heathcliff+Top Cat+Jimmy JJ Walker. He's got some bad alley cats after him and he was about to jump off a cliff while being chased then BAM! He's hit by old rich guy who is simultaneously slamming into the side of a cliff while on his Bluetooth screaming angrily at his business associates about a huge deal with the Local Triads in which he'll hire a bunch of illegal Chinese immigrants to work in the sweatshops underneath his animal shelter, where they turn the stray animals into popular fashion accessories.

Boom. Story.

WE'RE GONNA BE BILLIONAIRES!!!

wtf?

My idea:

An hbo tv show or other cable channel.

An assasin who gets paid to  kill people or groups of people. Every episode involves him getting to know and follow his targets, and coming up with inventive ways to kill them or get 'rid' of them

The catch is that he has a moral center and really doesn't want to kill anyone unless they deserve to die.

He's also a peculiar psychological character, he dates around...he's trying to get married because his parents wonder why he's wasting his life as a bachelor, he also has them thinking that he runs a laundromat which he does as a front. But his dream is to own a bakery and he studies pastry making at the local cc.

hit me up if anyone is interested.

U should throw in the twist that he's really a homosexual
And tryng to find a lover
His parents are incredibly religious Christians
And while being a Grade A assassin he has to juggle his family life all while doing so
Also it's a serious show but has funny and comical elements

some of the worst scripts/ideas somehow get greenlighted for production

its all about who you can get attached to your project if you have a semi decent premise and can convince an A/B lister to hop on it youll have a better shot at studio funding

nah...the gay assasin thing is a bit too much.

but i like that the comical elements could come from him trying to get a legit girlfriends and interacting with his family. He's probably a loner type...smart guy but underachiever etc

Also what about the people he kills will they be political leaders and the such or just low level criminals????

everything but political leaders, once in a while he'll get a tempting offer for an international figure, but it'll mostly be people involved in crime...snitches, dealers, paedophiles etc.

I like the girlfriend angle, because we could paint him as being totally useless in relationships. A clumsy guy when it comes to commitment because of his job, so he's better with one night stands and that kind of thing...

maybe he even has an ongoing relationshp with an escort, but he doesn't commit to her because she's an escort. But he really cares about her...???

I'm dead serious btw
Try to cut me out the picture and I will have a lawyer on u so fast it will make ur head spin

A guy kills people who deserve to die.

It's already a show called Dexter.

I was thinking the same thing.

What you need to do is put your assassin in a cat's body.

I find that to be a useful way to spice up any plot.
