Apple's September 12 invite hints at iPhone 5. Upgrade to iOS 6 now.

Was holding out to see what Apple has to offer, but I think i'm gonna stay with Android (Nexus line). This is an upgrade if you have a 3GS or 4 but nothing to make me jump ship.

For those complaining about iphone 5 being overrated, what were you expecting? Apple is the top dog in smartphones. Why do you expect them to reinvent the wheel. They made major updates to there OS. The turn by turn navigation was a punch in the balls to Android. That was a major hole in iOS.
There was nothing wrong with the current 4S as shown by its insane sales.

Android has had turn by turn navi for awhile so how exactly is this a punch to the balls? They could have taken a step back and made the iphone5 three inches and edge reception only and people still would have eaten it up, sales for them would be high regardless. Apple heads are blind and will gobble up anything Apple releases. I don't dislike apple either, i own a macbook and have been using iphones since the 3gs came out, still using a 4 currently. I like having options though and changing it up a bit which is why i'm jumping to Android soon but to say i'm an Android head or an apple hater would be completely false.

ive had LEGIT turn by turn navigation on my htc evo for over 2 years now..

:lol no hate but I had that phone before I switched to the 4s...Evo was cool for about a month then it started lagging like crazy and I couldn't wait to upgrade from that phone. The turn by turn thing I never understood with the 4s, it was a pain in the *** driving solo with my 4s having to look down and read off directions and tapping to go to the next step :{ Until I jailbroke it and got turn by turn nav....The evo did have that but that phone was so garbage otherwise in my experience.

But honestly there's no point in comparing them its like PC's and Apple computers.....there's 10 different companies making pc's running windows and a bunch of different manufacturer's making phones running android. Apple makes like one or two of their own models in each case and still does extremely the markets competing against all the other tech companies....they have the marketing game on lock and even if their product isn't overall as good as other devices, and they'll still outsell everybody else...all just personal preference.

Most likely 4 iphones. Tired of Tmobile. best pricing goes to Sprint and we have coverage (LTE) in Houston. Thoughts?

im not familiar with Sprints family plans, but if you travel any I wouldnt rock with Sprint, but if you just stay at the crib and go to work, if it works then it works.

ATT and Verizon have the best LTE freqeuncy though, Sprint and Tmobile are getting the throwaway. Verizon has the LTE coverage game on lock. If everyone uses 2gb or less you can really freak the share plans to your advantage

you can do 4 lines unl talk text and 8gb shared for 250 which includes free mobile hospot which you would pay extra for with sprint.
6gb 240, 4gb 230, I wouldnt go any lower than that. This is for VZW btw

I don't care who had what first. I care who does it the best and has the smoothest system for me to use.

Apple does that for me. When they stop doing that, i'll leave. Its pretty simple.

Keep all the stat lines and data lists to yourselves. Knowing how much RAM something has or what the processor speed is doesn't mean anything when you're using something on the day to day basis and cant be bothered with something that doesn't meet your needs.

The "end of the spec" is soon approaching.

And dudes really that butt hurt over NFC? LOL, like damn theres not even much out thats cool thats using NFC. Heck just wait for the 5s it will be Quad Core and have NFC and prob 12 or 13 mp camera lol

It's statements like this that remind me of how far back we still are when it comes to innovation in America and it makes me sad really.
I travel to Asia every year and all I use to pay for things are my mobile wallet. You'll never know the greatness that is NFC and we'll never progress like the rest of the world with that kind of view.
It's a shame really. :{

I was thinking about jumping back into the Apple ecosystem after spending some time with my girls MacBook and having good experiences in the past with the 3GS and iPhone 4 but the 5 is looking like pure trash.
This is definitely a step back for apple. The GS3 was released months ago and its still far superior to the 5. There is nothing new here. Nothing innovative. Nothing class leading.
They just gave y'all some glossy mockup pics of a stretched out 4S, a bunch of buzz words and a slap on the back.
I can't support a company that plays consumers like this. I understand incrementalism in consumer electronics but this is ridiculous.
Microsoft and Google and doing all types of revolutionary stuff with their mobile ecosystems and Apple gives you an extra row of icons and adds .5 inches of screen real estate on last years device and you dudes eat it up.
To each his own but I'm not boarding this hype train.
Apple's best days are definitely behind it.

Exactly how I feel now.

This is kinda true.

America is lagging and most americans don't know it..

You dont know what you're missing in terms of infrasturcture until you travel.

I agree with this.....I'm on my parent's Sprint family plan its mad cheap compared to ATT and others, with unlimited everything....no data caps whatsoever which is :smokin. The service isn't as good as Verizon/ATT but honestly my roommate has a 4s on ATT and we get essentially the same service all throughout the city...only thing is I have to go to WiFi in the basement at school as Sprint gets no bars there and ATT has 4 :lol, Unless you're living in a rural area or frequent small towns, etc the difference with Sprint service isn't all that much....I think the cheaper plan kinda balances it out....and if you jailbreak it you can get the mobile hotspot with sprint for free really easily too...but if you want the best service on LTE I'd say go with Verizon, if price isn't really an issue

Its not even about specs primarily, its about user experience by way of innovation and refinement...of which, spec bumps only tell part of the story. Apple has not lead in that department since the 3GS.

iOS is beyond tired.

The mobile industry is evolving fast and furiously and Apple is becoming too conservative and predictable in their product releases. They are attempting to keep exceeding expected quarterly earnings and its working for now but it will backfire in about a year, year and a half.

They will fall as every other industry Titan before them has....only they are hastening their own demise with this type of policy.

Their competitors are slowly but surely eating into their market share and no amount of lawsuits will change that...only innovative products will.

But let me not interrupt the thread.

Just saying my piece as a "want-to-be apple" supporter.

Thing is, where is apple lacking in terms of UI/UX?

The iphone is one of the most integrated devices out there besides the Windows UI/UX which is innovative in its own right. I wouldn't say its "lacking"

Remember, Apple adds things when it can perfect them. They were late to the table on many things. Notification Center, multitasking, GPS, wireless updates, safari reader, app folders, etc. But Apple doesn't care about that. They care about doing it right and making sure that its not buggy.

You're not going to see NFC until apple knows it can make money in that field. If you're down to experiment with face technology that lets you unlock your phone or NFC (which the government doesn't trust yet) or hardware acceleration because your software isn't tied down to the metal like it should be, then go ahead and try your luck elsewhere. I know when I use an apple device that all aspects of it aren't an experiment. They're refined and tested methods that will work every single time.

Google wins in the cloud integration and in experimentation.

Apple wins in refinement.

Nokia doesn't know what it wants to do.

:lol ^Exactly what i'm talking about. You weren't impressed with it yet you want Apple to take your money. I don't care what any of you buy with your money but this is the mentality apple sheep have that i mentioned a few posts back on this page.

the iphone is equivalent to cod. everyone gobbles up and gets so excited about being sold the same product year after year.

i own an iphone 4s. before this phone I had a flip for like a month or two because my previous smart phone broke. the main feature why i use iphones is technology has come too far for me to separate my music from my cellphone. I will never buy an mp3 player again... thus 64gb 4s

I was gonna get this regardless, I haven't had a legit smartphone since my 3S got stolen 3 months after I got it when it first dropped 2 years ago. Loved the iPhone was gonna get the 4S last year, but held out for the 5. Not really much of a difference at all, but hey.. why not? lol

im gonna say this... In all honesty after the lawsuit, i really thought apple was gonna come out swinging and say
"copy this *****!"
"this is how you do it"...
"this is what your supposed to do with our technology"
"this is how you set the next standard"

The ONLY gripe I have is that the 32 GB isn't standard.

We've got macbook airs that are taking over and ipads as well and they're expecting us to utilize more downloading with less space?

Lets get that 128GB out here. Flash memory is dropping...when will we see this improvement?

word, Android is caught up with being the 1st to do something yet puts out stuff it doesnt even plan on perfecting. What they do with JEllybean will show how serious google is. It doesnt make damn since that a phone like the Bionic was a joke after 2 months, when the razr dropped, then the razr became a joke when the maxx dropped 3 months later. I`m not like these other cats who just talk to talk, I worked in wireless for 2 yrs I've seen every type of customer, if yall spew these things at the avg customer they would tone you out. At the end of the day this is all about what works for you!! I had the GS3 and returned it after a week because I DIDNT LIKE IT.

You're a fool if you say a plastic slab like the GS3 looks good and the iPHone doesn't , the 5 is SEXY.

the gs3 has a 32gig internal and can hold up to 64gig external... if that is the main reason i dont see why not..

Iphone is digging it's own grave.

These fools sued samsung for copyright, and ended up increasing the sales of the samsung galaxy.

People thought " If they are similar, let me try it out then. I wouldn't mind using a screen that's bigger than a business card too."

The new Iphone5 has a new docking port.

That means all those radios and and speaker combos and charging ports for the older versions are thrown out the window.

Stuff that came out last year is obsolete.

People have too many devices nowadays.

The new trend is quality over quantity.

People are beginning to realize that they got 5 different touch screen devices and it's driving them nuts.

Consolidation of devices is the new wave.

Suing over rounded corners???? Come on...

My point is IOS was missing a few things and they have been addressing them. They dont need to make sweeping changes just too be different. They added iMessage to counter GTalk last year. This year it's the turn by turn directions to combat Google navigation.

If you factor in the Apple App store versus Google Play its not even a comparison.
