Woke Kaleeforneeia.
It’s not a Red vs Blue, Rep vs Dem, Right vs Left, Con vs Lib thing.
Think for yourself. Look out for ourselves.
Don’t just regurgitate and spew off mindless propaganda.
I’m amazed, proud and heartened the younger generation these days are not afraid to speak out.
Don’t be a Tool and get used by others to push their Agenda.
Question Authority, the Narrative.
Don’t just toe the line.

These can't be real quotes :o

On a lighter note: came across the Asian equivalent of the famed Jesus piece while window shopping.
24K and Guan Yu.
Works for me.

Yup and stories like his goes unmentioned or unnoticed. The "go back to your country" remarks are even more ignorant when a lot of SEA immigrants are here due to that war.

My grandpa was a war hero who aided the CIA and US in the jungles of Laos but he never got the recognition, praise or benefits of a veteran. He got to come to a country with 0 dollars in his pockets to get spat at and discriminated for not being able to speak the language.

They dont know our story because we are the "model minority". They see our success but never saw the atrocities, the set backs and back breaking work our people put in to get where we are at now.

17 years in concentration camp because the US started a war against Vietnam...fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Your indignation is misplaced. Concentration camp means Communist run prisons. Spinning the struggle as against Colonialism and Imperialism is sugarcoating the horrors and destruction of Communism. Think he and others left became refugees cause the new order was good? Please think again.

I do not want to get anything wrong here, so I am asking the question.

Who are the they, that you are referring to?

your family Hmong bro? A lot of my Hmong homies from Sacramento have OGs that served in the Secret Wars in Laos. what's wild is that during the W. Bush administration, department of homeland (in)security labeled Hmong guerrilla soldiers as terrorist despite enlisting them back in the 70s. the ******* audacity

I’m not surprised that Michael Imperioli (can we safely assume his heritage based on his surname @JPS or would I be a “simpleton” in doing so? 😂) took this angle but I’m curious as to at what point are people willing to forgive once a person has demonstrated contriteness ?

was what she said stupid and insensitive? yes. do i believe she's a different person 10 years later? no doubt. she was 17 year old child; we've seen white MEN get away with sexual assault and not have it impact their personal and professional lives. brock turner raped an Asian woman and is off somewhere continuing to lead his life without remorse.

teen vogue handled this situation extremely poorly. they're a multimillion dollar publication; they should've had someone go through Alexi McCammond's social media from the jump and gotten ahead of it. they couldve preemptively had McCammond issue some sort of statement in advance to address her past comments, rather than have it look like some forced apology. they put themselves and McCammond in a corner

Not suprised. The Taliban was funded by th US to go against USSR. Sadam was BFFs with the US to go against Iran's ayotollah. He just went out of favour when

- Sadam attacked Kuwait - lots of US oil interest
- Sadam said he will stop selling Oil for USD.

Very similar, we call ourselves Mienh. One of the many ethnic Chinese minorities in SEA just like Hmong. We're called Red Dao in Vietnam or Yao in China.

Both a lot of Hmongs and my people came into this country because of our involvement in the war siding with the US and communism spreading into Laos which is where half my family is from. Dad got to come over in the late 70s, early 80s and got some wild *** stories to tell :lol

Real.
Forgot to include usual news documentation.

Context:

"Sources familiar with the incident say Garcia’s anti-Asian remarks came during a legislative battle that arose when Asian-American community activists successfully lobbied to defeat a Democratic proposal to overturn California’s ban on affirmative action in college admissions. They argued that such a move could hurt Asian student admission rates.

Perez in mid-March 2014 announced a move to return the bill to the Senate without any action from the Assembly, effectively blocking its advance.

Garcia, the sources said, erupted in anger during a tense meeting of the entire Assembly Democratic caucus.

“This makes me feel like I want to punch the next Asian person I see in the face,” according to sources present at the meeting and other legislative sources who were told about the comments in the immediate aftermath."

So she has a history of shooting off her mouth, angry not getting her way. Great context. That’s very respectable.

🤨

Facts:

Should have separated out my reply as not to seem flippant or disrespectful to the policy point you were making. But nothing and nobody is going to convince me her actions are tolerable. Inexcusable.

Affirmative action in college admissions is another issue though. Bet we could agree on some specific needed changes cause the present system isn’t it. Don’t particularly like the linked article’s headline. Generalizes opposition as singular force without legitimate concerns.

I try not to just look at the picture someone hands me but the frame as well.

Who framed it (and why) matters.

Way to easy for us to be manipulated into feeling instead of thinking.

We have a common enemy...and its not each other.

Her words and actions must be addressed and she should be held to account.

IJS why stop there.

Unless / until we address the institutions, policies, programs, the very foundations of inequality in this country we wont get anywhere.

Even after she is fired the problem will remain.

Some very rich & powerful people (who are much too smart to make such comments publicly) are still pulling the strings that put us at odds with each other.

Ex: Using Asians as pawns to hurt Blacks via the protesting of "Affirmative Action" initiatives.

Some folks blame the puppets.

I try to follow the strings.

NYC subway.
Bet he’ll look fresh for his official photos soon too.
