Haven't seen this book in YEARS b. Def was on my book shelf :lol

What's a Covenant? An agreement between man and GOD. THE Covenant are the 10 Commandments or their predecessor, the 42 Laws of Maat, commonly referred to as the 42 Negative Confessions.

In the movie, The Covenant is the ship bound for a new planet to populate. The movie opens with the Covenant (ship) literally being torn and almost destroyed (broken Covenant = broken agreement) waking (an awakening) the adult passengers.

This broken Covenant forces the crew to veer off course and toward their doom. Stopping for a moment to consider white supremacy and Christianity go hand in hand, you have a crew of Earthlings/Europeans breaking their word (the ship) to GOD, which leads to their death.

Well, what was the "sin"? Moving in the direction of their genetic superiors, literally...

From Willy Wonka. Same concept. View media item 2468007

One thing that's been annoying me lately is black folks talking greasy about "hood" black folks in front of white folks. Example: I have a black coworker who I wouldn't necessarily is a ****, but will say things such as "this area is ghetto, don't go there" to white co-workers. Had a white coworker come back from vacation who talked about how bad the area was he travelled through. Black co-workers says, "I told you that area was ghetto" so forth and so on.

Now we know that ghetto is coded language for an area full of black folks, mostly working class with some stand-out knuckleheads who sadly get the most attention. Just pisses me off when black folks don't realize WE ARE ALL GHETTO to (some) white folks and talking greasy about "hood" black folks isn't going to protect you.
It's always been that way between blacks who have money and black people who are poor/working class. There is a segment of black people who hold the same racist notions of their own people just as racist whites. Difference is the self hatred compiled with the inferiority complex to whites makes it that more intense. For reference read these books.

I've met some of these people. Dated one for a few months before I even knew how wealthy she was. I never noticed self-hatred. I never noticed bootlicking to white people. The one thing I did notice was ignorance. They live completely separate lives just like wealthy white people do. What they know about middle and lower class blacks is from television and the news. Perhaps maybe they interact with a family member who is of those classes but still infrequently. It's a completely different world.

Both of us have been in that world and had two different experiences but both are historically accurate.

Definitely got a hint of scumbag from those jack and Jill kids.

But as stated rich white kids were exactly the same.

Sadly I have family members that feel/think the same way about working class blacks. Now that I think about it might be blacks in general even though we're all black. Honestly when I realized it I didn't even know how to address it. Guess I was surprised.

Interesting reading the comments about how some of my people feel about DC being gentrified

Good thread

Please stop taking young Black kids to majority white environments & then calling the racism they experience bullying.

At first I didn't get her point but after reading  through her posts I understand. Only question I have is if the current school system your child is in is unsatisfactory what are your options for better education if going to a "white" school should be out of the question?
