Black guy hair cuts

Why is it called the ds5 when really Que made it popular

I don't remember many dudes with that afro with a taper before og Bobby Johnson came out

Wiz made that nappy unkempt **** cool with young people and then dudes just started temp fading the sides.

It's called the DS5 because everyone Old and Young knows who they are. Everyone might not know who Wiz Khalifa is.

I'm going for that low cut too. I cut my own with the 1/8" guard. It keeps it dark, but a little too dark. What guard sizes should I be looking for to get this length?

I think someone said tell the barber to give you a "1.5".

So the barber would know what I'm talmbout if I say cut me with a "1.5 guard". Not too familiar with that type of **** I had the fro for the past few years lol.

Make sure that you tell him with the grain

If I were to go interview do you think this is too long?

The real question is what career/job field is the interview for, and look at the guys that already work there, let that be your guide. But, I guess play it safe, take down more, get your foot in the door, and grow it out again.

For those that also cut their own hair, tips for blending fades & tapers? I always F up in one side every time :{

remi23 remi23 I don't see anything wrong with that cut. I've seen a bunch of interns and new hires (black and non-black) with whatever trendy hair-style. It really just depends on the company culture and if you feel like it would matter in your job.

I've worn earrings to my interviews and gotten offers.

Id go in the safe side for an interview, but that looks fine to me. White people might have a different opinion though

If you even have to ask the question fam, go the safe route and cut it down.

You'll more than likely be free to allow it to grow back to a length you like once you've secured the position.

My opinion. I like to reduce the chance of potential L's to 0% if at all possible.

Exactly, don't take a chance on an opportunity because of your hair :lol it'll grow back.

Start out with a good guideline where you want your fade/taper to start then start to blend that line in with the "middle guideline" that you'll create right below the "bulk" of your hair or where you want your fade/tape to stop. Use light wrist flicks (as if you were picking your hair so to speak) along with comb/brush strokes after every clipper motion. DO NOT press down hard into your hair with your clippers as you can create another guideline that you'll have to fade out, trust me it's annoying. Also remember you can always cut off hair but you can't put back on hair you've already cut off lol! Hopefully you get the gist of what I'm typing as it make sense to me as I'm writing it but you know. Also you can YouTube some barbers have tutorial vids, I know my old barber in Louisiana does "MrBGizzle."

I've had the same caesar w/ tapered sides and back for literally 22 years after I cut my box fade off in elementary school. Being in the military it's hard to stay in regulations while trying to explore different haircuts...haven't seen a cat yet with the "DS5" lol. Mini fros, bald fades, caesars, military fades (Marine fade), and baldies is the norm.

As long as you don't have dusty braids or dreads, white people don't care. A lot of the advice about cutting hair down I hear is usually from older black generations who would lose the the opportunity over anything.

Your main focus is looking clean, have a great personality, and being able to answer question (behavioral and job specific). I've been on interview panels and seen a guy with outrageous s-curls (lol) and he was one of the top candidates.

Man they don't understand. Dude needs to be safe like you said and cut it down. I personally would just cut it all off honestly.
