His way of preventing over crowding? You cannot be effing serious. He said "be fruitful and multiply". Why would He go against that?

And I'm sure death would take care of things. And don't say their isn't enough food or water. There is. We were taught to eat to live. There is plenty of food. Check peoples' cabinets and fridges.

And your right it is His job to judge but don't we live in a system where judges and juries send people to be fried in a chair or injected with poison?

But whose judging? Everyone I've seen are giving their opinions. When you give your opinion on murdering being wrong aren't you judging too?

And another thing. If its truly natural then would males be able to carry children as well? Why can't men breast feed? Why doesn't a mans chest fill with milk for the baby? Why does a vagina lubricate but an !*#@ doesn't? Why would it be natural to make a life of putting a penis which has a open wound in a place of human droppings and is filled with it? Why do people compare human homosexuality to animal homosexuality which when Humans are at the top of the chain of life and knows better and has the ability to reason?

You ask for equal rights and what not but resort to name calling?

You are trying to get into a binary argument with either a religious nut case or some hillbilly idiot... both of which have somehow let the Mormons who TO THIS DAY practice polygamy, yet have convinced these people that they are voting to save "traditional marriage." I am in awe watching the ignorance of those who live in my home state of California... I for one will pray for the day that these fools pack up and leave Cali and our constitution be. I hear Texas is a great state that welcomes this type of ignorance with open arms.

There is no need to tolerate or be kind to those who wish to discriminate against people whether for their sex, race, ethnicity, age or sexualpreference. You obviously have a very narrow perspective on the world (as you asked starving people to check for food in their cabinets and fridges...

...) and believe that you have made some sort of relevantstatement that we all should read not just once, but twice, however I assure you, your ignorance has been overlooked for good reason. You may continue yourbiblical quotes, but rest assured we all don't believe in the same fairy tale as you sir.

What my values are ain't your problem. And no, you don't need to know. Why? So you can justify your values against ours? So you can judge us yet complain about why we voted yes? I can respect those that Vote No on 8. That's their values. I don't understand why you can't respect ours.
Normally, that would be correct, but once your values directly affect others, they become someone's problem. We can both respect eachothers' opinions and all, but something has to give once you start encroaching upon another person's life.

What if the majority of the country felt interracial marriage was wrong...it would be right to ban interracial marriage?
its ok to not agree w/ something or someone...but to tell them they cant do something because you dont agree (when it doesnt affect you at all) is
sick.gif
But to tell someone that they cannot vote yes based on their values is just as
sick.gif
i don't think anyone said you cannot vote based on your values...

now if i was to propose a ballot measure aimed at stripping your voting rights because i disagree with you, then that would be similar. because then i would beattempting to turn a personal value judgment into a constitutional amendment that imposes my opinion on your rights and quality of life.

IMO it doesn't really matter if you think it is wrong, don't agree with it, whatever.
It's just not fair to take away rights.

Seriously, my mom dad & stepmom voted yes..there was no getting to them.

And the Yes rally is infuriating me even more, this doesnt even effect them, the $+$% is wrong with them.

I hate religion.
You know thats where the worlds laws came from right. Well God created rules and regulations IMO. You know humans cannot govern themselves right? You do know there is a God right? You do know people and this earth didn't pop up out of no where for no reason right?

And once again what are civil unions for? And I don't hate gays I just don't think they should be allowed to marry. Yes this world has screwed up a lotof things. Yes in America we have a high divorce rate. But we also have a high crime rate. Should laws against crimes be diminished because people don'tfully fallow the laws?

No I told YOU to check cabinets and fridges because you'll see there is enough to go around. See you called my beliefs fairy tales. Ididn't knock you. I was stating my opinion and you went in on my beliefs. And I'll continue. And its just fine if you don't agree. Thats why wevote my friend. If it passes one day then you've earned it for fighting for it. But I will never agree with it. Stop with the name calling please?

*This is hypothetical and does not express my culture/views

In my culture, it is widely viewed that you should only marry within your own race.
If you marry outside of your own race, it is considered wrong and you are looked down upon.

A bunch of people from my culture propose a proposition that is for banning inter-racial marriage.
What do you do?

Would you really vote yes because that's what your culture says for you to do?
Do you really believe that interracial marriage shouldn't happen?

You're right.

But your opinion is that I shouldn't vote based on my PERSONAL moral judgement which is my values.

i have to disagree. i respect that he is entitled to an opinion, but i don't yet respect his opinion because he refuses to explain his reasoning. i think that's what dl2352 was asking for... an open dialogue about the fundamental reasons behind his vote. for what it's worth, i think you earn respect through logic and reasoning.

when i disagree with his stance on prop 8, we are having a discussion where at the end of the day, we can just decide that the other person is dumb. no big deal.

when he disagrees with prop 8, he is casting a vote where at the end of the day, people may be denied rights given to others solely based on their sexual orientation.
It doesn't get anymore black and white and clear and cut for me to say that I voted based on my values. Obviously, me voting yes should explain to you that I voted based on my faith.

What do you want me to say? That I hate homosexuals? Are you going to put words in my mouth? Are you going to accuse me of being a horrible person because I choose to vote on my OWN PERSONAL MORALS. Yet you're going to judge me based on your OWN PERSONAL MORALS because it doesn't agree with yours.

The hypocrisy is outrageous.
when your "OWN PERSONAL MORALS" are discriminatory, then yes... that is exactly what we are going to say. There is no room fordiscrimination in our constitution. Please leave those ignorant ideologies at your story telling sessions you call church.

race is not sexuality, so dead that analogy.

The discussion has been over. I don't really understand why I need to go into detail as to why I voted yes. Obviously the majority ofCalifornia voted yes. I guess the majority of California agrees with how I felt.

To tell you the truth, if it didn't pass I wouldn't be as judgemental as those who are no for 8. I'd just shrug my shoulders and say I guess itdidn't pass.

those laws were designed to prevent and punish those that encroach on other people's lives. if someone steals something from me, thatnegatively affects my life, so there should be a law to prevent and punish. when 2 gay dudes get married, i don't see how it negatively affectsanyone's life.

But no one's attacking you for feeling that way or voting for it. Yet you're attacking us for voting yes. So who's the one reallybeing judgemental?

at the end of the day, i really hope those that voted yes on 8 understand exactly what they did. you can view it as voting based on your values but i hope youalso understand that you voted to deny a minority group of citizens the same rights you have as granted by the state constitution, not a right granted by yourchurch or religion. we've gotten to a point where there is a majority of the population that thinks it's alright to take away rights from anothergroup. while we take two steps forward as a nation tonight, i feel we take a step backward as a state.

Give me any HARD evidence that there is a god..not all these fairytales...You do know the bible is essentially plagiarized from the book of sun?

Just because you need to believe in something to fill in your void of meaningless doesn't me the rest of us do.

Yes this world has screwed up a lot of things. Yes in America we have a high divorce rate. But we also have a high crime rate. Should laws against crimes be diminished because people don't fully fallow the laws?
those laws were designed to prevent and punish those that encroach on other people's lives. if someone steals something from me, that negatively affects my life, so there should be a law to prevent and punish. when 2 gay dudes get married, i don't see how it negatively affects anyone's life.

well, voters said that they didnt want gay marriage in this state nearly 8 years ago. Some judges decided that they knew better...based off of today'sresults, they didnt. Unfortunately, we will revisit this issue in every election until people finally get tired of it and it passes.

I really need to know this.
What my values are ain't your problem. And no, you don't need to know. Why? So you can justify your values against ours? So you can judge us yet complain about why we voted yes? I can respect those that Vote No on 8. That's their values. I don't understand why you can't respect ours.
He does have some good points here

48% in
Yes = 53%
No = 47%
i have to disagree. i respect that he is entitled to an opinion, but i don't yet respect his opinion because he refuses to explain his reasoning. i think that's what dl2352 was asking for... an open dialogue about the fundamental reasons behind his vote. for what it's worth, i think you earn respect through logic and reasoning.

when i disagree with his stance on prop 8, we are having a discussion where at the end of the day, we can just decide that the other person is dumb. no big deal.

when he disagrees with prop 8, he is casting a vote where at the end of the day, people may be denied rights given to others solely based on their sexual orientation.

The hypocrisy is outrageous.
i can judge you, i can call you a horrible person, etc. but when you wake up tomorrow, you'll have the same rights as you did today. your judgments of other people go far beyond any harm i've cause you tonight by merely engaging in an online dispute over the matter.

at the hypocrisy.
so i guess we're done having an intelligent discussion?
The discussion has been over. I don't really understand why I need to go into detail as to why I voted yes. Obviously the majority of California voted yes. I guess the majority of California agrees with how I felt.

To tell you the truth, if it didn't pass I wouldn't be as judgemental as those who are no for 8. I'd just shrug my shoulders and say I guess it didn't pass.
EXACTLY. cause if 8 passed, you'd wake up tomorrow and your life would be unchanged.

now that 8 has passed, gays and lesbians are waking up tomorrow pissed as hell about having their rights taken away because the majority of californiadisagrees with their lifestyle. what a damn shame.

I'll sum up my thoughts with this.
