The Times/CBS News Poll showed that Mr. Reagan's handling of the economy was the strongest factor attracting voters to him. Those polled rejected Mr. Mondale's call for higher taxes by a ratio of nearly 2 to 1.

You're using a political occurrence to argue economics.

That is not how it works.

umm..da voters favored Reagan's economic policies..thats exactly how that works.

You mean the voters favored their perception of Reagan's handling of the economy.

Elections are all about perception, aren't they?

umm re-elections are very much a referendum of actual policy record, and thats what 1984 was in regards to Reagan and his handling of da economy back then.

So by that token Obama's foreign policy and handling of the economy was pretty good then since he won in 2012 pretty handily correct?

his economy was terrible during 2012..da difference? da electorate didn't blame him for it, they still blamed Bush.

Now you're contradicting your own logic. You see how dumb it is to try and correlate election results to the economy? You don't know what percentage of people blamed Bush vs thought Obama was doing a good job any more than you know what percentage of people thought Reagan was doing a good job.

how em i contradicting myself...go read da exit polls yourself

da electorate didn't blame da bad economy on Obama in 2012, Reagan was re-elected by a Electorate that rewarded him for having a robust economy policy.

da electorate made da decision in both.

You sure do pick and choose what polling to acknowledge, it seems exclusively to always line up with whatever clown argument you're trying to make. And for someone who's had such a terrible economy and foreign policy record, why in the world would Obama have this record approval rating he has? Or does that not fit the narrative. Exit polls also showed that even the people that voted for Drumpf didn't think he was qualified nor had the temperament to be president but yet here we are.

cuz he's da 1st black president, duh

too bad he can't pass his swag along to his fellow democrats... they're literally are in da worst shape since da 1920's

too bad Hillary was still considered even less trustworthy & honest by those same polls ehh?

So Reagan's "popularity" is attributed to his policies yet Obama's is because of his race? Interesting.

Obama's approval rating is well above President George W. Bush's numbers at this point in his term in office, and about on par with Ronald Reagan's numbers at this time in 1988.

You're not very bright are you? I was questioning your reasoning for said numbers, not that they weren't similar. Where's the data that shows Obama is popular because he's black as opposed to his policies, since that was what you asserted.

Oh get the **** out of here with this nonsense

Obama is only popular because he is black. Yet you ignore all the bigotry thrown his way, especially by Donald Trump

Whenever you speak on black people, you talk bull ****

So why didn't ninja's man Alan Keyes become president if blackness if the only thing required to be elected? :nerd:

Democrats have been rendered nearly absolute after this election season & yet Obama enjoys a personal high approval ratings..all of his policies have been effectively repudiated so whats left? [emoji]129300[/emoji] 1st historical black president?

ding ding ding.

his approval ratings are highest among what group of folks thats buoying his numbers [emoji]129300[/emoji]?

exactly.

and in regards to Donald Trump "bigotry", if that was even true u think Obama doing any press with him? its definitely not his job to have photo-ops. so..take it how u want it.

Dude get the **** out of here with that, you can report this post to Meth if you want but this is ********, and I'm not gonna let you pedal this nonsense.

To imply that Obama's approval rating is not based on his accomplishments or competency like previous white presidents, but because the novelty of him being black is straight up diet racism, scratch that, it is racist. Period

This is the kind of nonsense talking points sws on Fox News make.

-And you have no idea about why demanding Obama's birth certificate was so bigoted, and and how it was a call back to Jim Crow, because when it comes to most things regarding black people, you are straight up ignorant about the communities history. And refuse to learn.

That is why all you can muster is "if he is a bigot, why Obama taking pics with him", maybe because Obama is the bigger man, he has proven to have more morals and integrity than Donald Trump by a country mile.

He is probably doing what he feels in best for the nation, and putting that over his personal feelings. But yeah, one thing I have learned about Obama is that he is a bigger man than most of the right wing clown he has to deal with. I wish I had his patience

Obama taking pics with Trump because he thinks Trump really isn't a bigot? What kind of 3rd grade logic is this?

Of all the absurd things he's said this one takes the cake.

And also love how now it's a repudiation of his policies and not that people just didn't like Hillary because of her baggage, trust issues, e-mails etc. Now it's Obama 's failed policies.
