College vol. How NOT to go broke

Well for one thing..don't buy books from the book store..go online.

amazon.com and other sites are your friend.

Cutting down on spending money on drinking, smoking, and fast food if you indulge in any of the 3 is crucial.

This. Lots of free food if you know where to look, especially during the first few months when they do welcoming events for freshmen.

..it aint much but it sure beats being broke

Get a job, preferably one that pays weekly,
Don't live by the "If I got it my boys got it" mentality. Leeches can sense it
Don't be a sneaker fanatic in college. New releases will kill you.
Workout. Find a routine and stick to it. Helps with studying and memory.

Being broke is apart of the experience so don't worry to much about it.Work on campus you might not get paid that much but your studying won't get messed up.

One of the biggest things are books. There are plenty of alternatives than just your school bookstore.

- Look on Craigslist
- Amazon
- Also, some classes such as Asian American or ethnic studies class have books that may be in the library

-Work during the summer so that you make a decent amount of money. If you're responsible enough you should arrive to campus with $2-3,000 saved up.
-Get an on campus job.
-Most textbooks/books that you'll need can be found at the libraries on campus. If you must buy a book, rent from Chegg.com. Finding books on half or eBay are going to be tough to find after the first week of classes.
-Don't eat out all the time. Once a week is good enough.
-You don't need that pair of sneakers that's coming out. Many NTers who've been to college will tell you that they've missed releases because sneakers weren't a priority at the time.
-Download movies/music if you haven't already.
-When you go to the dining halls, pack those take out trays with the meal's value in food (ex: Dinner is about $14.00).
-Attend events on campus. Most of the time free food and refreshments are provided. Also great for making friends or finding a girlfriend/boyfriend (if that's your thing).
-Don't donate anything. It should never get to that point. That's why you should get a job to prevent that from ever happening.

I don't get why y'all keep saying learn to cook. He's an incoming freshman. He won't be living off campus or have access to a stove/oven in the dorms. When he moves off of campus then that will come in handy.

alright...

-get a campus job (work study helps with finding jobs)
-get food stamps (super easy when u have work study.. i get $200 per month)
-find a side hustle (green, addy, cutting/trimming hair)
-study/hmwk M-F, party on the weekend (saves u $ so u dont have to get wasted every night and ur tolerance isnt that high so u get drunk/buzzed/faded quicker/easier)
-DONT eat out at all... save that money for groceries/snacks from the store
-campus food isnt open all the time so if you want to prepare for munchies or a 4th meal, cop a tupperware unit and load up at the dining halls
-when u start living off campus, make friends with freshman... easy {{}} and u can use them for meal points (refer to using tupperware also)
-forget ur sneaker collection... just sell it
laugh.gif

-campus EVENTS are usually occupanied with FREE FOOD.. just go, meet people, or go and just grub and dip
-most campus libraries have books on reserve but its hard sometimes if others are trying to check it out (also look for them on craigslist)
