good luck with that 20k-30k salary being a historian....u almost have to be a professor to make a good living out of it.
Good luck growing a sack and being capable of talking to a girl, let alone hooking up with one.

Good luck with the laser eye surgery so you can have a better taste in women.

And I have no problems talking to girls at all...just a fyi.

HA!

Looks like JA is filling in for me. Keep it up, good sir.

Paul, I didn't know RT's make that much. That's more than some nurses, yo.

RN's make hella money... especially the ones working in the ICUs. If you're comparing that to LVN's and stuff, yeah, I'm prettysure RT's make more.

But I think I got it wrong though. I think I've also heard $65,000 a year also. And there's a night shift differential, weekend differential, and a payincrease when I become a registered RT after passing another set of exams.

So I guess it does come out to about $70,000 a year.... maybe. I'm not doing the math.

Yea, RN's who work on specialty units get paid bank, but most new nurses don't start off with $70k - that's why I was surprised at that figure.

Just be thankful we're not in Florida. Their RN's are happy to make $20. Imagine what everyone else makes.

Disclaimer - yes I know the cost of living is less there.

Boyz Noize, you still working at UCSF? I'm still trying to get a job there, eventually. It's still my goal to work there.

Should be about $70,000 a year... if I was full time. But whatever... I'm just happy to have my freakin' foot in the door.
Yeah, still here. I got switched to a permanent position here and I have all the benefits of a full-time worker now. It's weird to say outloud since I just turned 20 but this is like a real job
laugh.gif
This isn'twhere I want to end up (since I'm studying graphic design and all...

) but it's nice having a steady income and job security in the mean time. UCSF is definitely a nice place to work though and it'll only getbetter in the future once the financial problems blow over and the new campus fully opens up.

$70,000 starting though? Wow

You need an AS degree. It's a 2 year program.

Yeah, UCSF is still nice. They're supposed to be opening up some positions because winter time is when the workload increases. Plus it'sranked in the top 10 hospitals in the U.S.

I work in the IT department of Pediatrics. I'm the guy that troubleshoots your computer problems or installs office equipment if you work in the Pediatricsdepartment. I service everyone from administrative assistants to the higher ups. I was surprised when I first started out how completely computer illiteratethese genius researchers and doctors were

It's unreal how much these people are scared of computers.

Just last week a manager on the floor called me into her office and said she couldn't make the font bigger. I didn't want to jump to conclusions so Iwalked into her office and she was working with MS Word. She said for the last 30 minutes, she wanted to make the "letters bigger" but couldn'tfigure out how.

This lady makes $100,000+ and hundreds of people have trusted their lives to her ... I had to bite my tongue. If it was ska or Acid, I would have probablysnapped.

Acid, I'll let you in on a little secret.

I want what's best for you and it pains me to see your wheels spinning in place.

You wouldn't believe how many times I've troubleshooted printer problems only to find out they were out of ink, paper, or that it was unplugged

I'm officially on an 80% pay scale which means I'm slated to work four full days a week. My supervisor and the lady in charge of the payroll have an agreement in place where I'm alternating each week between taking Tuesday or Thursday off for school. In actuality, I take both Tuesday andThursday off every week for class so I'm really only working 24 hours a week.
nerd.gif
My supervisor knows but he's cool with it. On the 80% scale, I make $31k currently.

^ Thanks for that info. $31k isn't bad. What are the requirements for that job?

I think my friend does works for UCSF and fixes computers, too. Jorge is the dude's name. It's probably something different from what you do though.
laugh.gif

yo you guys are dead on about the higher ups knowing jack !$$$ about computers.

they treat me like im some sort of computer god in my division. Instead of calling the IT guy to come help em out, they come to me.

Knowledge of both PC's and Macs, software knowledge (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, etc,), customer service experience... and Microsoftcertification for Vista

yeah... Let's just say I'm really lucky to have this job. Like, really lucky.

You know it's actually quite rude, professionally of course, to inquire about salary? On here, who cares..just saying as you further in the business world.

What up - actually, the funny thing about PCs here, as you continue on the track to Partner you retain less and less about computers and trouble shooting. Atleast at my firm, it's not so much that we don't know (at least the Manager level) it's just not worth it for us and our billing rates to solve itwhen we have a department whose job it is.

October 4th marks the start of the preseason!...cant wait for baseball playoffs, football to be in full swing...basketball to start!!...i love october!
