I'm nearly 5 months into my first pair of APCs and I'm beginning to wonder this question: How do people get thigh fades? I honestly can't think of a way someone could possibly get consistent wear in that area.

dont put anything in your pocket... always take the stairs and walk around  a lot... if your jeans are too tight its harder to get  thigh fades but easier to get the honeycombs.. i've noticed elder white males have the best whiskers without trying and they tend to have more looser jeans

Thanks!  I'm gonna try it out in a second.  Is there really a difference between hang drying them and just laying them down to dry?
oh you stop it with that

hang dry just means to dry them without using a clothes dryer.  hang em lay em flat wear em wet on a hot day, do whatever to get them dry without using a dryer.
oh, and if you didnt have a tub/sink a 5 gallon bucket works well too.

sorry about the late reply, caught the ban hammer then had finals

.  I read on some sites that people lay them down to dry because if you hang dry them the color would run and possibly drip if it's too wet.  Not sure if it's true that's why I was asking

The presidents and designers of both Flat Head and Real Japan Blues are coming from Japan for a party at Self Edge Los Angeles on June 11th from 7pm to 11pm.

Many things are happening during this weekend at SELA:

-FH has sent over many shirts we've never carried before from past seasons, they'll be for sale at SELA during the same weekend at discounted (more than the 12% sale) prices.

-Free Flat Head promotional gift with every in-store SELA purchase on Saturday (While supplies last)

-We're releasing a new collaboration jean and loopwheeled T-shirt between Self Edge, Flat Head, and Real Japan Blues. The jean is a new slim fit from Flat Head, details from both brands are on the jean, and a newly developed Zimbabwe cotton 14oz unsanforized denim from Real Japan Blues. All three stores will release this jean and t-shirt after the party. These turned out very well, we're loving both the tee and jeans.

-Intelligentsia is sponsoring this event, they have provided an espresso machine and grinders and Intelli-Venice baristas will be pouring various espressos from beans rarely seen before throughout the night. Beers also available for those wishing to sleep later that night.

So...

I had to bump this thread, because I know next to nothing about denim. I didn't read much of this thread (read about the last 5 pages) and I'm wondering if NT can help me out. I'm looking for a certain look as well as fit. The last two years while I've been at college my weight has fluctuated so the only jeans I've bought and worn is Levi's 501. I'm a 36 waist, sometimes 34 though. I don't know if I'm looking for slim, skinny, or whatever. Help me out fam

Here is the fit I'm looking for. These are taken from the WDYWT thread, so... sorry if these are your pics.

and for your efforts in helping out....

^What is your price range and are you looking for raw denim or just any denim in particular that's close to those?

The foams pic i believe is levi 511 or some other skinny cut
2nd pic the jeans are Nudies (either average joe or big bengt)
As for third, prolly something like levi 514

Price range? I'll say like $75-100 a pair.
And what's the difference between raw denim and regular?

<--- knows LITERALLY NOTHING about denim man.

I don't usually wear jeans but I'm trying to buy 3 pairs of good jeans.
I'm on the big side so I wear a size 40 waist but buy clothes in a 42.

What do you guys recommend?

Whenever I do buy jeans I buy straight leg.

if anyone is interested Gilt Groupe will have a flash sale of LVC (Levi's Vintage Clothing) tomorrow starting at noon eastern time

here's a preview:

Just grab some Levi's. 511 sized up if you like a slim fit, 514 if you want a slim straight.

Raw denim jeans arent washed, so usually they are stiffer than most jeans. Also they tend to fade in certain areas, like the back of the knee which they call honey combs or whiskers, I forget. Also if you have a wallet in the back pocket, you can see the shape of the wallet after time if its generally in the same spot. Quality is real nice depending on the brand. APC's and Nudies are the "beginners" raw denim, the price is decent for raw denim jeans ($150-$200 range). I would just stick to that unless you are heavy into denim, then theres the $300+ brands. Just stick to Levi's or if you want to venture into raw denim jeans, go for APC's or Nudies.

I'll look into this.  Thanks man.

I forgot to mention, most raw denim jeans stretch out after continous wear. APC's are known to stretch a ton (by raw denim standards), so people usually size down 1-3 sizes to compensate for the stretch, and for the right fit.

You can put Urban Outfitter Unbranded and Naked and Famous on there with beginner jeans.

You can get Unbrandeds for real cheap sometimes if you're lucky at a sale.
