Nice :hat

what do you guys think about these shoes? I'm in the market for some shoes but not a very high budget.

I have them up in my collection pic :lol
Honestly, I got them two christmases ago back (in black) when my only dress shoes were a pair of Aldo's...Although they were a definite step up, I would never pay retail for them. I think I got em for 40% and even still I regret it since I could've picked up a pair of used AEs on the bay for around that price if not a bit better. Now that my collection has amassed to where it currently stands, I have more options. Therefore my landsend's get used only when it rains or going to the club. My suggestion to you is to hit up eBay for used AEs or obtain the seconds list from Allen Edmonds and see if any prices tickle your fancy.

Damn, you guys have size 36 pants with 7.5-8" hems? My size 31 484 chinos from J.Crew have a 7" hem lol. Those pants must be tapered as hell.

i bought the levis slim trucker in medium and found that it ran pretty big for some reason. thought i'd have to size up being a slim model. i just rebought it in a small hoping for a fit that i like, awaiting for it in the mail.

I have size 36 Alphas and the leg opening is 7.5 inches at the most, probably a little smaller than that.

I refuse to believe that, here are my 3 pair all 36x34. Olives are a lil smaller of the three. Black are lil more than 8". Camels are in the middle. D0's are a lil slimmer, I find that dockers stretch alot all over on me.

Leg opening on mine is 8" as well

and boom.

These are all 36x29. They should have an even bigger leg opening because of the short inseam. I haven't worn them yet. So they might even shrink a little after a wash and dry. They were all bought from Sears.com last December.

weird.

Wait, what affects hem sizing more, waist or inseam? I'm a 31/32.

I'd say waist normally, but think of the taper as a "V. If you cut off the point of the "V" a higher point, the opening will be bigger.

But if the pants were intentionally made to be tapered, I'd expect the leg opening to be small, regardless of waist size.

8 inch leg opening on a size 36 waist seems like a slim straight fit rather than tapered.

You hit it right on the head.

Pant sizes are made to scale proportionally. For example: size 30 may have a 6.5 leg opening, 31 may have 6.75, 32 may have 7, etc. However, as NAF1 stated, the legs are tapered like a V. There are a lot of high end denim out there that comes with one inseam, usually 34-36". If person A gets a size 31 and hems it to 32" inseam, the person would still have a smaller leg opening than person B with the same size 31 but hems it to a 28" inseam. The difference should be minute, but still different nonetheless.

Well, Well there you have it. Maybey the 5 inches shorter inseam has something to do with it. I would know cause I'm not short. Maybe another short guy can confer.

P.S. Where the hell did my avy go?

I'm 6'1 :lol

short legs though. going for that no break look, but not highwater. Like Wisith and I said, longer inseam should probably have a a smaller leg opening. But dockers/levis and their sizing is all over the place.
