Florida School Shooting, Over 20 Casualties

I'm admittedly desensitized to alot of these events, so I'm only just now really deep diving into this. I hadn't known much besides the fact that it was a school shooting in Florida.

That said...is there any credible evidence that suggests there may have been some politicized motive behind this? I've yet to comes across anything. In this thread, I've seen several posts that mention "white supremacy"...I hop on Twitter and do a basic search and see a bunch of "Antifa-backed communist...the left did it!" psychobabble.

Is there anything really there or is this yet another instance of people reaching to apply whatever political motive they see fit to another mass shooting?

A white nationalist militia group said he was one of them but then threw out the "we didn't tell him to do this though" line. Boys don't want that federal investigation.

Moving goal post and straw man I tell you

What??? You're the one who brought up the government. How are you gonna blame me for "moving goal posts" when you're the one who changed the subject to leaving guns in the hands of the government?

What's tragic is no one cares when it's a 15yr black teenage male with a hoodie on coming from the store who's a victim of gun violence for many of reasons but mainly because of America's illness that has passed down from generation to generation like the flu has in the winter season where no one wants to do anything about it because it's normal to them now,it's normal for them to feel terrible,it's the norm for them to pass it on, their home remedies aren't working and they just refuse to succumb to looking for real solutions to actually rid themselves of it,to stop it.How sick is that?where money, dictates policies that just might save someone's life.

I could go on and on but it's useless at this point,I'm not going to get all religious talk about mourning the dead, there will be more in a few weeks and frankly it's gotten to the point where some americans have to give to receive,compassion,understanding....no one say's a damn thing until it happens to them,it happens in their community,at their schools, their children or love one, then it's time to fight that good fight;Well tomorrow I have to get up and go to work like many other's will and all I'm going to do is just cross my fingers and toes that me or no one I know is in the wrong place at the wrong time

I'm not gonna do this lol.

Civilian gun ownership is a good thing.

Stiff gun laws and security for our children is the best suggestion we have right now.

Don't do this then, cause you're clearly not mentally capable

Civilian ownership is a good thing when so many civilians are illiterate and insane? OK...

This isn't Switzerland or some Nordic country where the population is mentally stable and peaceful. They use guns for legal hunting, while over here citizens use guns when their feelings are hurt

When is the last time you saw a white person kill a large number of black people at the same time? I don't mean blowing/shooting up a spot with a few black people in the area. I mean a mass casualty event, they aren't that brave (yet).
Don't be stupid, they aren't shooting up black crowds because we always have a large police presence waiting for the black man to mess up so they can throw us in jail.

This is why it's kind of hard for me to have a dog in the "gun ownership" fight. The talk only intensifies when it's a so-called "mass shooting" with a political narrative attached to it. People pretend like they care about all gun violence but the harsh truth is that they don't. It's business as usual in "other" cases.

Personally, I don't give a ****. My view of humanity is that if you remove every single gun from this planet, we'll figure out to engineer new weapons of chaos and repeat the process in no time.

This is actually a decent argument for civilian ownership. There's a lot of illiterate crazies out there who already have them and are waiting for their time to use them.

Do you really think you'll be in some type of wild west shootout with them though? I don't see how me having a gun locked away in my home protects me against some lunatic opening fire on me while I'm distracted or sitting down somewhere. I'm sure there are some cases where people have been able to defend themselves, but most of these mass shooting victims could've been armed and still murdered. For example, what chance did the Las Vegas victims have?

Also, when the police arrive and see two people shooting at each other, how do they know who the crazy one actually is?

In addition, how does this address the fact that mass shootings also happen when kids find ways to gain access to their parents' locked up weapons?

It's not a decent argument because no one but the crazy far left is fighting for gun rights for crazy people.

Lol it' amazing.

Can I ask you a question.

How would you go about banning guns?

Will there not be a single gun in the streets?

Just curious on how this would be possible.

Just seems like the easy soap box stance to take right now.

"GUNS ARE BAD, BAN GUNS, PROBLEM SOLVED"

So simple lol.

I literally did not say any of this though...like I said, stop trying

How is gun ownership not an issue when many of these mass shootings happen due to lunatics being able to legally purchase guns with minimal/ non existent background checks?

So hear me out, wouldn’t this be a good way to protest? In an open carry state like Virginia, a large group of minorities should get together with alllll their legalities in check and within their lawful right arm themselves as much as they lawfully can, have their liscences in plain sight and exercise their second ammendment in the most rural upper class white neighborhoods of their state...and PEACEFULLY AND SILENTLY march and make sure everything is recorded....the second ammendment isn’t a whites only ammendment but somehow I feel that’s what the masses mean when they say is part of AMERICAN CULTURE....I’m sure nowhere in that statement do they in their mind include the visual of a bunch of minorities armed to their teeth LEGALLY

NYPD has its own School safety police force as well, but anyone knows the NYPD Isn't the safest or smartest out of the bunch to always keep schools safe all the. I think they carry guns but im not to sure.

ive only seen school pd's at universities.

but at my high school there were usually 1 or 2 officers on campus

Your right I merged post.

My bad.

Can you answer my questions though?

An outright ban will not work. I agree with that. I do think that should be the ultimate goal, but it's too early for that if people actually want a change. It would take multiple decades before we get to that point.

For now, purchasing guns needs to be extremely difficult compared to the current process. People have pointed out that this guy was an 18 year old who walked in and was able to buy an AR 15 as if he was buying a pack of cigs.

It won't eradicate the problem, but it's better than nothing right? If it prevents even 50% of the mass shootings, why not?

I'm not talking about mass shootings I mean in general. The KKK distributed leaflets in my city and I see confederate flags all day. Just in case is what I was told by my older family who really had to worry about crazy white boys in sheets running up on them. That's great you don't see how it's necessary but we aren't living the same life in the same place with the same attitudes around us. If I get caught slippin that's on me but my house has an alarm and decent auto lighting so it's kinda hard to sneak in here.

Police argument is moot, I'm black. Cops roll up at my house and I have a gun out firing I'm done off rip.

I seriously believe that if these type Of protests gain traction, the NRA will be forced to make changes.
