But honestly speaking here....like newton CT...the kid drove to an elementary school..shot out the window and went in and murdered 6 and 7 year olds. Idk if metal detectors at every school is a big enough deterrent, imho. If you have the gun...and you are crazy...you are probably going to do it. I guess it may help...but i think root cause is gun and mental health.

I don't think any amount of car accidents or high speed chases would lead me to say.... I think we need to ban sports cars. It's illegal to drive fast anyway. You keep talking about how using metal detectors would slow down the process of letting kids in the school.

It is going to take more time, that is understood. I see it in a daily basis, the kids, security guards, and teachers working the front door have the science down.

I've never been to those schools up there with a detector. So I've never seen it. But I'm only imagining with a school like theirs, with over 3000 students, plus faculty that is ridiculous. Not to mention it has to be monitored all day long cuz otherwise what's the point? And to go even further, if someone wants to shoot up the school... Metal detectors won't stop em cuz they'll come in guns blazing. So I guess they'll come in shooting instead of make it to the third floor before shooting?

We were saying that about Homeland Security and the TSA 16+ years ago and they've shown no signs of letting up. I don't think the government gives a damn about the convenience factor.

Tsa is a perfect example of how I think it's not feasible. Gotta arrive 2 hours early and all that extra stuff and iirc the report said they still missed 60% of the banned items they were supposed to not let thru. What if instead of metal detectors you had to go thru those full body scan machines like in the airport tho? That'd be faster wouldn't it?

Well you already know what time it is. Make our kids feel like criminals early so they understand why all the powers that be think they're criminals too.

On that note, Me and my wife have a theory. One reason they don't want to start putting too much thought into why are kids doing this so often nowadays and would rather focus on guns and legislation is that IF they turned their focus to studying the mentality of the youth and these shooters... Inevitably they have to come to the conclusion that only WHITE youth seem to be the ones shooting up schools. It would quickly become a study into white violence among children and teenagers. Just a theory tho.

Metal detectors won’t aolve the issue, but it can help, for sure....at least as a deterrent, also put gates on all the windows....I mean this is what It was back when metal detectors were placed in my high school before 2000...they been criminalized our schools loooong ago and it wasn’t a debate, was it inconvenience, YES VERY....to this day I remember having my first class at 7am in the winter and having to arrive at 615am get in line in the FREEZING cold to hopefully make it in on time, but this was our life and we dealt with it, white kids with mommy and daddy issues wanna keep shooting up white rich schools, time to criminalize those schools

When I went to school some of the kids were criminals. Most of us have seen kids carry a weapon into school. Pistols, knives, brass knuckles, switchblades, bullets, swords, fireworks, etc. Any one of those can cause injury to an innocent kid. If metal detectors prevent it from happening even once then they are worth it.

Some people don't raise their kids right and those kids put other kids in harms way. There were times in school I didn't feel safe.

Hate to say but things will only get worse. For now it's schools. Wait until it starts to happen in other locations just as often. Just think about how unsecure you are at a restaurant. It can happen more often than we think. I tried to think why this has gotten worse, and one of the reasons is because of social media and the increased coverage of it. It inspires copycats who want "to send a message". Unfortunately I don't see a solution in which there will be tougher restrictions. I see one of two situations occurring eventually

1. I believe shootings in other areas outside of school will occur just as often as the school shootings. Because of that, there will be an increased police/security presence. In essence, police states.

2. Somehow, gun ownership will be drastically decreased but an increased security presence will still be present, which is what I believe is what's wanted. Police presence and an unarmed population
