Update on the guy who got taken off the transplant waiting list. He got a VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) fitted. He's near the end. Wish he would listen to the doctors but this is the hill he chose. Unreal.

By the time this comes out wouldn't it be ineffective since we would be past the Omicron surge. We're already at the stage of the pandemic where we're seeing mutations of mutations. There's already Omicron B2 out and about. I wouldn't be surprised if Omicron just gets declared an entirely new disease.Pfizer’s Omicron booster seems to be quite a ways off still. I believe the vaccines we are using now is based on the original Covid strain. And those were shown to be effective against other variants. Even with a booster, they are effective at keeping people from having to go to the hospital
An omicron-specific vaccine might still offer protection against variants that come after it.
I doubt they declare Omicron a new disease. It is still a coronavirus. Covid is shorthand for coronavirus. So delta, omicron, omicron B2, it will probably still be referred to as covid.

This. An Omicron specific booster would likely be more effective to sub-lineages than the OG, but we shall see.

Im not even gonna lie, I had food poisoning once so bad it felt worse than any of my post chemo sessions. I was so damn weak, and my legs were aching for some reason. This on top of ****ting my brains out.

Yeah VAD life sucks, especially if you're "destination therapy" (non-eligible for transplant).
They have a drive wire that's normally inserted into the left lower quadrant of the abdomen that leads up to the heart to power the device. It has an external power source/computer that constantly analyzes how it's functioning and alerts you if it's failing. You need to protect that entry site from damage, so showers are out of the question. Sponge bath only.
You're restricted in a ton of other ways living with a VAD. You're on coumadin by default to prevent it from clotting up, so that means constant blood work in conjunction with even more dietary restrictions. You'd also better hope that you live near a hospital that can manage you if you need acute care. Most spots will stabilize you to the best of their ability until you can get the tailor-suited care you need from the spot you got the device or at least one that knows how to properly manage a VAD patient.
I used to care for a lot of VAD patients and patients on milrinone drips awaiting a VAD at my old job. When it came to their prognosis we'd just say "don't buy any green bananas."

I hope he doesn't do that. Because I can see that moron Tucker on tv call out all the doctors & nurses at the hospital, and call them names and call for their medical licenses to be revoked. And all the while he did ZERO research beforehand to learn that there are STRICT rules & protocols that a parent must abide by to be considered for a transplant. I consider my entire team that did my transplant angels! They saved my life! And this guy would crap all over these doctors who would do the same for this guy for nothing more than ratings!
