Hurricane harvey....texas nters stay safe

texans dont have to pay state taxes right
could the taxes if they collected state taxes
have helped i guess with supplies and stuff
was houston like not prepared
or does houston get hurricanes on the regular
or not the regular but do they have experience with em
this a cali dude who never been to texas so I'm just curious

Only tax I'm aware of that Texas doesn't have is income tax.

Basically if you border the Atlantic you're susceptible to hurricanes.

so happy the rain has finally stopped by me, thankfully I didn't have any major water inside, just a few leaky spots in the roof
there's a bayou that runs right in front of my street and the water was pretty high at the end of the block but it didn't make it down the street
I wasn't home for Hurricane Ike a few years ago but my mom was without power for 2 weeks then and eating MRE's, i'm just happy it didn't get that bad this time
I had already set the bbq pit back up right and was gonna bbq whatever I had before it all went bad and then the power came back

Had some family out Missouri City/Sienna Plantation way that had to evacuate but everybody is safe

Houston has had Ike and Rita not too long ago come through and do damage. not to this extent but hurricanes are nothing new for us. Also part of the problem is Houston has grown so much so you get more and more concrete thats gets laid and less grass to absorb water. It will be interesting to see what steps the city takes from here to try and prevent future flooding.

More bayous. They were already asking the state for money to extend bayous in the southside.

Houston has a huge stray animal population too. Ish is crazy.

TX and LA is always hurricane prone...i always hear of corpus christi getting smashed i think houston got hit back in the 80s but this harvey the first one Ive heard bout in my life...the only good thing from this storm is it seems.they learned from choas from katrina so the relief efforts comin bookoo quicker...more supplies boats etc
Houston should have been more prepared with those floods a few years ago along with a good amount of people moving there from Louisiana.

real life beautiful thing to see how helpful everybody in Houston was or was trying to be these last couple days, hopefully things start feeling back to normal soon
