Jay-z wouldn't have had a career if Biggie and Pac didn't die - snoop

Maybe if Nas was a little smarter he would have trademarked the word "ether" beforehand.
Tha hell? This is stupid and doesn't make any sense. You have to be joking. Should you be joking, then it can ride.

I don't think you were though.

Yeah, but if they really homies Pac coulda at least had a conversation with him instead of ignoring him for a 3 hour flight.
they woulda eventually if pac didnt die. i done fell out wit my patnas over smaller ish then that an not speak for hella long.

son...da word Ether is in rap lexicon because of da scalding loss he suffered from da hands of Nas...
lol..look at the career trajectory of jay and nas since that 'scalding' loss...if it was such the knockout punch why cant nas come close to jays success??

dude really just called ether the 'scalding' loss then the next breath went to compare eminems sales..lol..your comparing like a million rappers to one just to discredit him.. smh

so nas has the lyrics..dmx has the energy..pac has the charisma..ma$e got puff..nelly got the midwest...lol..add it all together and they form some super rapper against jay...one by one they cant compete..

Nas had his foot on his neck and....................................let go, cuz thats how Nas always been, after god son he dissapeared

for 2 years like he always did in his album cycles, which is da era of mixtapes and internet is a eternity.

had Nas been 50 cent and shown NO mercy  jay-z wouldn't of had a career da way he has one now...

I do agree that with Nas coulda went for the throat, who the hell knows what would have happened to Jay after that, no one could.

But Nas knocked Hov to the mat with Ether, but just decided to win on the points in that bout.

Do those same hypotheticals apply to Biggie had Pac not let his foot off Biggie's neck with "Hit Em Up"?? Just want to make sure we're using the same standards across board for any and everybody champ.

how is that "hypothetical"?

thats exactly what happened...ether crushed jay-z, we ALL heard that hot 97 interview..he got KNOCKED off his horse

and da entire blueprint 2 was him pleading on how he didn't and couldn't understand da L he took
laugh.gif

Nas didn't mention Jay-z ONE TIME in god son, after

ether he was done with it, vs 50 cent RODE on ja rule from wanksta to EVERY DAMN MIXTAPE from banks, yayo, da whoo kidd

series, eminem RODE on him, BUSTA DRE, they ALL kept RIDING on him to da point on extinction.

Nas let him live

you should show some gratitude..he did da hiphop world a favor.

LOL @ "Nas let him live". More like Nas did all he could and it still wasn't enough. Nas going at Jay was the equivalent of a corner burger stand going at McDonald's. Sure the little corner burger joint might get a few cheap laughs but it's still too small and weak to compete with McDonald's and will eventually have to cave in and surrender. Which is what Nas did when Jay signed him to Def Jam, and then surrendered some more when the IRS came knocking on his door.

this is da FULL angie martinez interview with jay-z talkin bout ether...sit down b, jay-z took of L of L's with Ether.

this is why jay-z stans are da WORST..revisionist ****** that make people that would normally like jay-z otherwise hate him.

What part of "it still wasn't enough" don't you understand??
laugh.gif
Nas STOPPED, thats why jay-z was able to recover, NOT because it "wasn't enough" BIG difference.

that interview is enough proof to show jay-z was straight up assaulted a inch from his recording career life, cuz if anyone told

you before ether dropped 58% of Jay-z was looked upon in a light other then EXTREMELY positive most people would've thought

you was smoking dust...ESPECIALLY coming from NY rocking summer jam, and dropping da classic blueprint..and then Nas, who many

has wrote off as musically dead in da water (as spoken by angie martinez) decided to drop a birthday gift known as ether right on December

4th, right on Jay-Z's birthday....
laugh.gif
you finished here duece..accept da fact that jay-z took a MASSIVE L and had it not been for Nas being

da introvert of da century and displaying mercy, it would've been over ala ja rule.

Still speaking on hypotheticals with the talk of "had Nas not been an introvert" At the end of the day rap career wise Jay Z is still bigger than Nas, be it before Ether or afterwards. Ether kept Nas's name in the spotlight for a little bit but after that, things went right back to the way they are with Nas pretty much being a non-************* factor. Some things never change.

So wait... You posted this in a thread, then you wanted your voice to be heard SO badly that you made a thread out of it???

son gonna completely re-write history all da way back to when jay-z was just Jay-o's weed carrier.

..you right Duece Jay-z in 1994

rapping like da fake fusnikens was SO MUCH iller then illmatic..i dunno how anyone even made music as long as jay-z breathed oxygen..

You would have been better of asking me what I meant by that instead if assuming champ. Don't worry, I won't hold it against you though. When I said before, I was talking about from '98 up till when Ether dropped.

Some of you n****s probably wake up hoping you transformed into Blue Ivy overnight. Waiting for the moment Jay changes your diaper, or to be burped by him before story time at night. "Ether" without a doubt is the greatest diss song ever in Hip-Hop. He exposed Jay and dropped facts throughout the song, instead of name calling. Look at how much effort 50 and G-Unit had to put into ending Ja's career. We all know what would of happened if Nas dropped diss tracks every month, but that's here no there. A lot of things are glossed over in this thread, but Ether can't be one of them.

We went from "had Biggie and Pac not died, Jay wouldn't had a career", to now "had Nas dropped diss track after diss track after Ether Jay's career would have been over". You dudes are funny.

^^^

I wouldn't expect you to be objective about this though.

It is up there.

But when the best "diss" songs are mentioned, "Ether", "2nd Round KO" and "Hit Em' Up" tend to come first.

2nd Round Knockout is ill, but LL Cool J came hard as **** with a respond, so I don't put that song up there with "Ether".
Pac was talking out of his *** on Hit Em Up good song, but i don't think he was spitting facts.

I don't think LL's response makes 2nd Round KO any less ill though. Especially when it dropped.

Pac was talking out his *** on some of Hit 'Em Up.....maybe not in others. Either way, the **** was WILD disrespectful.

Not the point of this thread though, nor is 300 Bars and Running, outside of someone bringing it up to try to take some shine off "Ether".
