Kanye West: King of the Sunken Place, "Watch the Throne"

If you have time, give a listen to today's edition of Fresh Air on NPR. It's about the lynching memorial that recently opened in Alabama and the entire process behind lynchings.

It could summarized as an ode to the desecration of the black body. People bought tickets to see Black people die. The things that are being described make you wonder if the interviewee is talking about ISIS or the US.

And we have Black idiots stanning for the party of Roy Moore. SMDH!

The backlash is even getting to the point now that you might not hear his music on the radio as much anymore, as stations are beginning to ban his music from their airwaves.

Morning duo BIGG and Shay Shay of Detroit’s 105.1 The Bounce just announced that at least for the time being, they will not be playing Kanye’s songs, or even songs he appears on. Shay Shay says he’s not sure when he’ll want to play Kanye’s music again, telling the Detroit Free Press, “That’s what it is right now. We need a break. I think it’s a gut feeling of when we’ll be able to feel comfortable playing it again, when we’ll want to hear it again, and more importantly, when will our listeners want to hear it again.”

BIGG says the duo decided on the ban, which they later convinced their program director to roll out station-wide, while playing Estelle’s “American Boy,” which features Kanye, on their show: “Shay Shay said, ‘You know, why do we gotta play this?’ I said, ‘I agree. It’s kind of weird after he made those statements.’” He added, “Kanye is one of the core artists in our format. [This is] a significant chunk of songs that we’ve played that we’re not going to play right now.”

Hot 97 also isn’t in love with Kanye at the moment (even though Kanye loves Ebro), as the station tweeted yesterday, “The boycott of Kanye West has begun.”
I don't have a dog in this fight but I think it's pretty dumb to boycott his music cus of all this. Play what you normally would and give people the choice of changing the station, don't switch up now. You actually allow all these self destructive messages to pervade the airwaves into peoples subconscious on the daily, and NOW you have a problem? Specially when his music itself is not even of the ilk of the pop a perk n sip lean, take the *****, headshot a **** boi, songs you let run rampant conditioning the minds of folks and distorting the lines of what acceptable behavior and speech. Your ok with playing messages of the mentally enslaved, allowing them to slowly poison the minds of the people, but since Ye is don't got a beat under his words and it's countercultural, it's a problem. That's how you know this just a ploy, cus there's no consistency.

LBGT ain’t eem stop eating CFA.

thats the thing, the music is probably gonna be great and i'm still gonna listen.

only thing is idk about going to a tour stop, might start ranting about this **** at me.

and honestly i think this is the start of it for ye. he's gonna her more and more influenced by candace and her ilk imo. i've never heard of somebody start going down this fox news/right path and do a 180 and come to their senses. most likely as more and more of his friends/hip hop community reach out to him he's gonna go more and more the other way.

The son of a prominent white supremacist did a 180 from his father indoctrination after learning history in college. (Can't remember the name, sorry).

But it did take some dedication and trust from his Jewish classmates to make it happen.

The question to ask before even engaging in deprogramming their mind is whether they are willing to listen and learn.

Agree wholeheartedly with your statement

Once you go down the path Kanye is taking, cognitive disonance, and true believer syndrome sets in. You start to believe in all types of conspiracy theories, wingnuttery and tin-foil hattery. Which becomes hard to break because you fall into confirmation bias. Anything that is opposite of my (newfound) beliefs must be wrong, even if its a proven fact.

What about..........................................

the GOP must be elated that potential democratic support is being watered down and siphoned away. good job "free thinkers" :rolleyes

the problem with trying to start a discourse with someone like Candace isn't that we shouldn't reach out to people with different political beliefs.

its that Candace is not intellectually honest. she doesn't argue in good faith. she is a propagandist with a blatant agenda. case in point tweeting those fake harriet tubman quotes and not deleting them even though she had 100s of people in her mentions telling her they were fake. she is not interested in bridging the gap, only in getting people to follow her and her organization's agenda.

and honestly, if you really in this day and age with all the information available believe things like systemic oppression doesnt exist, hate black lives matter, align your self with hate groups etc. no amount of conversation with Charlagamagne or TI is gonna solve that. shame on them for allowing themselves to be used as part of her dog and pony show.

Trump is thanking Kanye on CNN for the increase in African American support looooool
