Kanye West: King of the Sunken Place, "Watch the Throne"

Thread was a rollercoaster. :smh:

All caught up now.

Gonna attempt the same in the Yeezy thread.

Now you want people to be upset at another community because they have established their own red line they consistently react against anytime it gets crossed, regardless of who crosses it, and I have to ask: why? Because you think they have power we don't have, as a collective?

You said this right or was it someone else?

Show me where I said anything insinuating that people should be upset at other groups for drawing their own red line.

In the last few years, there have been plenty of examples of Black folks speaking up publicly to get racist folks fired from small, medium, and large companies. Your question would have merit if we were talking about the power of the police and the state, but that's not the case here.

We AREN'T excluding police departments from this conversation. They were the #1 group that clearly doesn't seem to have to answer to anyone when Black folks are harmed.

But other than them, name Larger corporations that have been punished as a result of THE BLACK VOICE being loud enough to make a change. (I am using Large corporations because that is what has been discussed HERE.)

I know we love to shoot down, "WhatAboutIsms" but IS there a legit argument against the frustration Black Folks feel when they see people not get the level of punishment for disrespecting them as they do when other groups are harmed/disrespected?

I know some of us have already expressed that if Black Folks took themselves more seriously we would magically get that level of pull/respect. (Interesting that comment went unchecked by many in here but that is another story)

When you posted that comment in second paragraph in the Rap thread I wanted to bring up how wild that comment is when it’s moreso the corporations that responded differently than black people (especially depending on the race of who said that)…but if people making quotes like that freely and proudly in here then discussing this aspect of the topic on here is pointless

See above.

As I was going to say to P Present , it's hilarious that it falls on US and how (un)serious we take things when it comes to the likelihood of someone suffering the way they do when other groups get disrespected.

But folks will always find a way to rationalize it so like you said it is a pointless topic.

Again, see above.

0:35 seconds this is Lecrae and CEO of Chick Fil A sitting with the pastor of a mega church. Lol no one really made a big deal of this either

This is the question you asked.

I don't know what other kind of punishment you want to see when people have lost jobs and opportunities for anti-black racism. You can google examples or visit the Karen thread if you need proof.

States "Slavery was a choice".

Supports Trump / wears MAGA merch.

Wears "White Lives Matter" merch.

Denies Floyds murder.

Supports White Supremacist / Right wing talking points.

Puts Confederate flag on his own merch.

MJG, Andre 3000, Lil John / East Side Boys, Luda, Pastor Troy = All Wilden as well but to my knowledge they were all basically saying the same thing Luda said about it...

“The discussions that have been sparked after my performance of “Georgia” at the 2005 VIBE Awards is my exact reason for wearing a depiction of the Confederate Flag. This flag represents the oppression that we as African Americans have endured for years; this is a symbol of segregation and the racism that reigned not only throughout the South but throughout the entire United States. I wore it to represent where we came from, to remind people that Ray Charles’ original “Georgia” was written because of that racism. At the end of the performance, I removed and stomped on the flag to reveal my version of the flag; a flag comprised of black, red and green. Those are the colors of Africa. It is a representation and my interpretation of where we were and where we need to go. Racism is just as prevalent now and if we are not constantly mindful of our history and take charge of it; history is destined to repeat itself because of ignorance. In order to move forward, we must never forget where we were.."

vs Kanye...

"“React how you want,” he said. “Any energy is good energy. You know the Confederate flag represented slavery in a way – that’s my abstract take on what I know about it. So I made the song ‘New Slaves.’ So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It’s my flag. Now what are you going to do?”

My mama was raised in the era when
Clean water was only served to the fairer skin
Doin' clothes, you woulda thought I had help
But they wasn't satisfied unless I picked the cotton myself
You see it's broke *****racism
That's that "Don't touch anything in the store"
And it's rich ***** racism
That's that "Come in, please buy more"
"What you want, a Bentley? Fur coat? A diamond chain?
All you blacks want all the same things"
Used to only be ******, now everybody playin'
Spendin' everything on Alexander Wang
New slaves

But

Slavery was a choice...and you're the richest Black man in the history of the Untied States...who chooses to be a "New Slave"?

Also IIRC Eminem didn't drop Yelawolf from Shady Records for supporting the Confederate Flag but black folks aint listen to him anyway.

Anyways - back to the lulz

Wonfering Why was this the final straw for them?

We know why which makes this whole thing ironic. The harder the world reacts the more his point is kind of proven (even tho he made this whole thing nasty with the death con 3 comment which allows people to act as if he’s calling for violence) that certain groups are off limits to these gatekeepers and corporations meanwhile a whole culture of entertainment and media has been built off the socioeconomic remnants of slavery…

No it doesn't

Jaylen always came off as one of those dumb "smart" ******

Like, yall signed AFTER the slavery was a choice and MAGA era

Black people should have pushed JB harder to leave Donda. That's on us. Same with Donalds

Jaylen Brown was just defending Kanye YESTERDAY
He signed with Donda in May of this year while Kanye was wilding out
Probably texting him sad emojis right now and calling him "Big bro"
What was Jaylen saying yesterday?

No it doesn't

Depends on what you think his point is to begin with. The convenient/genius thing about it is that any further discussion of the concepts he brings up when he asks who controls the black voice on a corporate level in the music industry is instantly hit with a label  so sure. Respect and love to all people though.
