Bench guards period were pretty awful tonight.

Rumors going around that Lonnie might not be able to stay with Boston due to salary cap issues and the Lakers are interested.

I thought our roster was full and while he can be a spark off the bench, we need guards that can defend. Seems like it wouldn't make since especially with Max coming off the bench first.

Serious question.

If you say he’s athletic, then how is he using this athleticism to help the team?

Vando may or may not start when the returns… of course if that happens then we have to assume Rui comes off the bench, and he then becomes the 6th man. Max and Gabe are still in the rotation… that’s 9 guys right there. Almost forgot, Jaxson will still get his playing time as well, so that’s 10. C Wood will probably get an opportunity to play also.

Lakers might be fighting for a play in spot… you think they can afford to have a rookie playing regularly in the rotation? Win now OR develop, can’t do both.

Gabe/Dalton/Max/Rui as pretty much set off the bench. Don't think it's primarily about developing, moreso that shooting and athleticism can be of use now. Their bench in previous years has been destitute, especially when the injuries roll in.

On the flipside, who would you rather have in there? Bronny/JHS/Reddish/Lewis?

Are you forgetting Vando when he returns? Also, the team needs defense and rebounding more than they do shooting… Bron, AR, DLo, Rui can all shoot it at a decent clip.

Not sure what flip side you’re talking about here… a 9/10 man rotation is the way to go. Dalton makes the cut while a few of the vets are injured but once they come back, he’s on the outside looking in.

They drafted him with the full intent of playing him. I'm not sure what you're arguing. He's the 10th man even when Vando gets back and everyone is healthy.

Defense and rebounding off your bench? Ideal yes. But historically teams offensive production dies as soon as Bron hits the bench. They can use that shooting and athleticism right now. I think he's at 10+ minutes for better or worse. When Vando gets back we can talk about lineup optimization, but he's still playing.

JJ got some decisions to make with the middle of the first and start of second quarter lineups (which I guess applies to the middle of third/start of fourth). Particularly with Vando out.

When everyone is healthy:

Rui
Max
Gabe
Hayes
Wood
Knecht

Not being a regular in the rotation =/= not playing at all.

I said he won’t be playing much. You disagreed with my post, but then turned around and say this? Lol… cmon man what do you think 10 minutes is a lot? That’s a couple of 4 minutes and change shifts at the end of a couple quarters… and depending on the scenario you can’t even promise those minutes to him. I would expect to probably see him in maybe 60 something games, with maybe 10-15 DNP’s under his belt. Say this not even factoring in the belief that JJ wants to play more AD at PF lineups which pushes Bron to the 3 and creates a real squeeze for those playing time for those other guys.

Dalton definitely getting clock this year off his athleticism and shooting alone. He should be playing majority of his mins against benches. He'll be fine. Year 2 JHS is who everyone should be worried about. Had high hopes but might need to cut bait.

This is my original post.

I see the issue is our definitions of playing much differs. I think he will be in the rotation now, and dependent upon how he starts the season, JJ will adjust when Vando returns. I just know he will be playing and his size, athleticism and shooting will be why. Defense and rebounding aside, a bulk of minutes should be coming against benches. And hopefully not with DLo/AR together.

Rebound, finish at the cup and get to the line.
Just using last night as an example but he played 20 minutes but only grabbed 2 boards… took 15 shots, but 13 of them were from 3.

Not saying he can’t do those things in the league, but I am preaching patience as I do with most young players. Don’t feel like he’s as ready to contribute now as I’m seeing people say online, but we’ll see. I hope that I’m wrong and the kid balls out

Think Knecht might be a tad overhyped as a shooter, but he has the green light regardless.
How we feeling about Max Christie so far this preseason?
Defense and rebounding has been apparent, offense has been so-so. Team will need him to be a reliable 25 mpg player.

You can tell he has a scorer’s mentality lol but his shot selection is kinda outta pocket at times..

*Whispers* but he’s not the only one 😂

he's gonna be fine.

looks great for having 0 NBA experience

I mean makes sense to come back and get some live cone drill work in against the Lakers starting backcourt
